AbstractThe synthesis, characterization and evaluation in solid-state devices of a series of 8 cationic iridium complexes bearing different numbers of methoxy groups on the cyclometallating ligands are reported. The optoelectronic characterization showed a dramatic red shift in the absorption and the emission and a reduction of the electrochemical gap of the complexes when a methoxy group was introduced para to the Ir-C bond. The addition of a second or third methoxy group did not lead to a significant further red shift in these spectra. Emission maxima over the series ranged from 595 to 730 nm. All complexes possessing a motif with a methoxy group at the 3-position of the cyclometalating l…

Experimental and theoretical evidence for bilayer-by-bilayer surface melting of crystalline ice

2017

On the surface of water ice, a quasi-liquid layer (QLL) has been extensively reported at temperatures below its bulk melting point at 273 K. Approaching the bulk melting temperature from below, the thickness of the QLL is known to increase. To elucidate the precise temperature variation of the QLL, and its nature, we investigate the surface melting of hexagonal ice by combining noncontact, surface-specific vibrational sum frequency generation (SFG) spectroscopy and spectra calculated from molecular dynamics simulations. Using SFG, we probe the outermost water layers of distinct single crystalline ice faces at different temperatures. For the basal face, a stepwise, sudden weakening of the hy…

Traced tensor norms and multiple summing multilinear operators

2016

[EN] Using a general tensor norm approach, our aim is to show that some distinguished classes of summing operators can be characterized by means of an 'order reduction' procedure for multiple summing multilinear operators, which becomes the keystone of our arguments and can be considered our main result. We work in a tensor product framework involving traced tensor norms and the representation theorem for maximal operator ideals. Several applications are given not only to multi-ideals, but also to linear operator ideals. In particular, we get applications to multiple p-summing bilinear operators, (p, q)-factorable linear operators, tau(p)-summing linear operators and absolutely p-summing li…

Multilinear sparse decomposition for best spectral bands selection

2014

Optimal spectral bands selection is a primordial step in multispectral images based systems for face recognition. In this context, we select the best spectral bands using a multilinear sparse decomposition based approach. Multispectral images of 35 subjects presenting 25 different lengths from 480nm to 720nm and three lighting conditions: fluorescent, Halogen and Sun light are groupped in a 3-mode face tensor T of size 35x25x2 . T is then decomposed using 3-mode SVD where three mode matrices for subjects, spectral bands and illuminations are sparsely determined. The 25x25 spectral bands mode matrix defines a sparse vector for each spectral band. Spectral bands having the sparse vectors with…

A Neural Network-Based Algorithm for 3D Multispectral Scanning Applied to Multimedia

2005

We describe a new stereoscopic system based on a multispectral camera and an LCD-Projector. The novel concept we want to show consists in the use of multispectral information for 3D-scenes reconstruction. Each 3D point is linked to a curve representing the spectral reflectance. This latter is a physical representation of the matter and presents the advantage over color information, which is perceptual, that it is independent from both illuminant and observer. We first present an easy methodology to geometrically and spectrally calibrate such a system. We then describe an algorithm for recovering 3D coordinates based on triangulation and an algorithm for reflectance curves reconstruction bas…

An analytical model to evaluate the radiated power spectrum of a multipactor discharge in a parallel-plate region

2008

This paper is aimed at studying the electromagnetic radiation pattern of a multipactor discharge occurring in a parallel-plate waveguide. The proposed method is based on the Fourier expansion of the multipactor current in terms of time-harmonic currents radiating in the parallel-plate region. Classical radiation theory combined with the frequency domain Green's function of the problem allows the calculation of both the electric and the magnetic radiated fields. A novel analytical formula for the total radiated power of each multipactor harmonic has been derived. This formula is suitable for predicting multipactor with the third-harmonic technique. The proposed formulation has been successfu…

Calculating the Homology of the Image

2020

We introduce the alternating homology of a space with a symmetric group action, and give a new construction of the image computing spectral sequence (ICSS), which computes the homology of the image of a finite map from the alternating homology of its multiple point spaces. We illustrate and motivate the ICSS with simple examples.

Multiset Kernel CCA for multitemporal image classification

2013

The analysis of multitemporal remote sensing images is becoming an increasingly important problem because of the upcoming scenario of multispectral satellite constellations monitoring our Planet. Algorithms that can analyze such amount of heterogeneous information are necessary. While linear techniques have been extensively deployed, this work considers a kernel method that finds nonlinear correlations between all image sources and the class labels. We introduce in this context the Kernel Canonical Correlation Analysis (KCCA) to exploit the wealth of temporal image information and to handle nonlinear relations in a natural way via kernels. To achieve this goal, we use the generalization of …

TURF-BOX: an active lighting multispectral imaging system with led VIS-NIR sources for monitoring of vegetated surfaces

2021

A microcontroller driven system suitable to monitor soil and low vegetation is described. A radiometrically pre-calibrated imaging camera driven by a microcontroller is contained in a light-tight box aiming at an actively illuminated target surface area of 50×38 cm, using LED sources with different emission wavelengths (blue, green, red and infrared). The adopted arrangement allows measurements independent from local lighting conditions and from the in situ, per-session calibrations necessary with the conventional instrumentation adopted for field measurements. Sequential lighting of the target surface with the monochromatic LED sources allows capturing multispectral images at a relatively …

Recognition and classification of external skin damage in citrus fruits using multispectral data and morphological features

2009

The computer vision systems currently used for the automatic inspection of citrus fruits are normally based on supervised methods that are capable of detecting defects on the surface of the fruit but are unable to discriminate between different types of defects. identifying the type of the defect affecting each fruit is very important in order to optimise the marketing profit and to be able to take measures to prevent such defects from occurring in the future. In this paper, we present a computer vision system that was developed for the recognition and classification of the most common external defects in citrus. in order to discriminate between 11 types of defects, images of the defects we…
