High-Resolution Photoacoustic Raman-Spectroscopy of Gases

0377-0486; A high-resolution photoacoustic Raman spectroscopy experiment is described. The resolution achieved by using two single-mode pulsed lasers is about 0.0054 cm-1 (full width at half maximum intensity). The experiment was tested first on the v1/2v2 bands of CO2 and gave an increase of at least about one order of magnitude in the signal-to-noise ratio with respect to stimulated Raman spectroscopy at low pressure (ca. 10 Torr almost-equal-to 13 kPa). The sensitivity is also demonstrated by the study of the weak hot band v1 + v2 - v2 of CO2. Red and Far-Red Fluorescence Emission Retrieval from Airborne High-Resolution Spectra Collected by the Hyplant-Fluo Sensor

The contribution presents the development and testing of a fluorescence retrieval scheme based on the ESA's FLuorescence EXplorer mission concept. The algorithm employs on a coupled surface-atmosphere forward model at oxygen absorption bands: i) the atmospheric effect is computed by MODTRAN5; ii) the surface reflectance and fluorescence are modeled by means of the Spectral Fitting approach. The algorithm, previously tested on numerical simulations, was further implemented and optimized to process real observations collected by the FLEX airborne demonstrator HyPlant. Portable CdTe detection system for mammographic X-ray spectroscopy

This paper describes a portable apparatus to be utilized in mammographic X-ray spectroscopy under clinical conditions. The system, based on a CdTe solid-state detector, is able to directly measure mammographic X-ray tube spectra. Good system response to monoenergetic photons was measured using X-ray and γ-ray calibration sources (109Cd and 241Am). The measured molybdenum X-ray spectra, in agreement with simulated spectra, show the good spectral capability of the system also at high photon fluence rates, as typical of clinical mammography. Rotational Relaxation of Nitrogen in Ternary Mixtures N2-CO2-H2O - Consequences in Coherent Anti-Stokes-Raman Spectroscopy Thermometry

0021-9606; The influence of CO2 and H2O on the rotational relaxation processes of N2 in ternary mixtures N2-CO2-H2O is investigated. The efficiency of these perturbers is responsible for significant modifications of the state-to-state relaxation rates and broadening coefficients. Flame data are well reproduced by taking into account these modifications. The role of these minor species in the determination of temperatures in premixed flames is analyzed. Determination of Temperature by Stimulated Raman Scattering of Molecular Nitrogen, Oxygen, and Carbon-Dioxide

0721-7269; We have determined the temperature from SRS spectra of N2-N2, N2-CO2, O2-O2, and CO2-CO2 recorded in wide pressure and temperature ranges. The fitting procedure takes simultaneously into account the Dicke effect and motional narrowing. We have quantified the accuracy of the MEG and ECS-P models for rotational relaxation. The temperature extracted from each model is compared with thermocouple measurements. The influence of vibrational broadening and shifting is discussed in detail.

Raman Intensities of the ν1/ν3 Dyad of 28SiH4

0022-2852; The stimulated Raman spectrum of 28SiH4 has been recorded in the ν1/ν3 region between 2182 and 2190 cm(-1). The intensities of the Raman transitions were modeled using a dyad scheme for the two interacting bands with a first-order polarizability expansion. The involved polarizability parameter; have been adjusted to fit about 800 measured intensities of transitions reaching upper states up to J = 18. The resulting standard deviation is about 10%. A method to estimate soil moisture from Airborne Hyperspectral Scanner (AHS) and ASTER data: Application to SEN2FLEX and SEN3EXP campaigns

Abstract In this paper the soil moisture is estimated at airborne level and at satellite level by combining remotely sensed images with in situ measurements. At airborne level we process high-resolution images acquired with the Airborne Hyperspectral Scanner (AHS) sensor, and at satellite level we compute images acquired with the Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER). The AHS (Airborne Hyperspectral Scanner) instrument has 80 spectral bands covering the visible and near infrared (VNIR), short wave infrared (SWIR), mid infrared (MIR) and thermal infrared (TIR) spectral range. The instrument is operated by Instituto Nacional de Técnica Aerospacial (INTA), and it has been involved in several field campaigns since 2004.
