Tensorial development of the rovibronic Hamiltonian and transition moment operators for octahedral molecules
2001
Abstract We present a development of the Hamiltonian, dipole moment and polarizability operators of octahedral XY 6 molecules in a degenerate electronic state. These rovibronic operators are written with the aid of a tensorial formalism derived from the one already used in Dijon in the case of molecules in a non-degenerate electronic state. Electronic operators are defined from the group theory properties. Transition moment operators are introduced in order to consider rovibronic transitions. Spectrum simulations are made thanks to a new version of the HTDS sofware [J. Quant. Spectrosc. Radiat. Transfer 66 (2000) 16] used for the calculation of rovibrational spectra.
Reduction of the internal electric field in GaN/AlN quantum dots grown on the a ‐plane of SiC substrates
2005
We present a study of the emission of a multi-layer stack of self-assembled GaN/AlN quantum dots grown on the a -plane of 6H-SiC. We look for signatures of the internal electric field in the power dependence of the time-integrated and time-resolved photoluminescence spectra. The lack of a dynamical red-shift reveals that internal electric fields are significantly reduced in these dots. A band on the low energy side of the emission is observed whose intensity quenches fast when increasing the temperature. The polarization selection rules of the emission are examined in order to determine the physical nature of this band. (© 2005 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)

Comparaison de deux méthodes de correction atmosphérique des données thermiques de Landsat TM
1996
The high resolution of Landsat Thematic Mapper (TM) thermal infrared data can be interesting in applications such as energy balance and crop water stress studies. However, surface temperature measurements are strongly affected by atmospheric effects, particularly by water vapour absorption, therefore a correction method is absolutely necessary. The impossibility of applying a split-window equation and the difficulty of having temporarily coincident radiosondes produce a slight use of Landsat TM data to obtain surface temperature. Vidal et al. show that in a zone with homogeneous climatic conditions, atmospheric correction can be evaluated by using energy balance equation and standard meteor…
Observation of the suppression of the flux of cosmic rays above 4x10^19eV
2008
The energy spectrum of cosmic rays above 2.5 × 10¹⁸ eV, derived from 20,000 events recorded at the Pierre Auger Observatory, is described. The spectral index γ of the particle flux, J ∝ E-γ, at energies between 4 × 10¹⁸ eV and 4 × 10¹⁹ eV is 2.69 ± 0.02(stat) ± 0.06(syst), steepening to 4.2 ± 0.4(stat) ± 0.06(syst) at higher energies. The hypothesis of a single power law is rejected with a significance greater than 6 standard deviations. The data are consistent with the prediction by Greisen and by Zatsepin and Kuz'min.
Model, software, and database for line-mixing effects in the ν3 and ν4 bands of CH4 and tests using laboratory and planetary measurements. I. N2 (and…
2006
Absorption spectra of the infrared ν3 and ν4 bands of CH4 perturbed by N2 over large ranges of pressure and temperature have been measured in the laboratory. A theoretical approach accounting for line mixing is proposed to (successfully) model these experiments. It is similar to that of Pieroni et al. [J Chem Phys 1999;110:7717–32] and is based on state-to-state rotational cross-sections calculated with a semi-classical approach and a few empirical parameters. The latter, which enable switching from the state space to the line space, are deduced from a fit of a single room temperature spectrum of the ν3 band at 50 atm. The comparisons between numerous measured and calculated spectra under a…
