Integrating vehicle specific power methodology and microsimulation in estimating emissions on urban roundabouts

In this study pollutant emissions were estimated from VSP modal emission rates and the distribution of time spent in each VSP mode obtained from the speed profiles both gathered in the field and simulated in AIMSUN at a sample of urban roundabouts. The versatility of the micro-simulation model for a calibration aimed at improving accuracy of emissions estimates was tested in order to ensure that second-by-second trajectories experienced in the field by a test vehicle through the sampled roundabouts properly reflected the simulated speed profiles. Spray nozzle characterization using high speed imaging techniques

International audience; Spray characteristics play an important role in the application accuracy and efficiency of plant protection products. In this study, the spray angles, liquid sheet lengths and spray shapes of five hydraulic spray nozzles (Albuz ATR orange, Albuz ATR red, TeeJet XR 110 01, TeeJet XR 110 04 and TeeJet AI 110 04) were measured using a developed high speed imaging system. Results were compared with the results of existing measuring techniques using a flow rate test bench, a horizontal patternator and a Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer (PDPA) laser.

Einstein Versus Neutrinos

This article focuses on the news coverage given to the CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) announcement that neutrinos might exceed the speed of light, flying in the face of Albert Einstein’s theory. By studying 140 cartoons about the news item published between the CERN’s announcement at the end of September 2011 up until its refutation in February 2012, we selected 33 devoted to Albert Einstein. We study the iconographic use of Einstein’s figure, and how the suggestion he might have been wrong stirred up greater interest among the cartoonists than when it was proven his ideas are still fully in force.
Utterance fluency in Finnish Sign Language L1 and L2 signing

This paper explores the fluency of first language (L1) and second language (L2) signers of Finnish Sign Language. The phenomenon was approached by measuring utterance fluency using speed and breakdown parameters. The findings revealed clear differences between L1 and L2 signers regarding the measured fluency parameters. On average, L1 signers produced more signs and had fewer breakdowns per minute than L2 signers. However, the slowest L1 signer and the fastest L2 signer were more similar to each other than the averages of the L1 group’s (129.3) and the L2 group’s (71.4) signs per minute might suggest. It begins with Section 1, which shows the calculation of the resistance to motion, that is, the forces that the vehicle must overcome to advance on flat roads and uphill. It will affect the geography of China and on its cities. Maģistra darbs ir uzrakstīts angļu valodā uz 47 lapām, tas satur 19 attēlus, 14 tabulas un 51 atsauci uz literatūras avotiem. Mērķis bija novērtēt fiksācijas disparitātes saistību ar konverģences nepietiekamību. Pētījumam bija divas daļas: 1. grupā bija 5 dalībnieki ar konverģences nepietiekamību, kas veica 12 nedēļu ilgu redzes terapiju, lai izvērtētu tās ietekmi uz binokulārajām funkcijām, lasīšanas ātrumu, CISS vērtējumu un fiksācijas disparitāti; 2. grupā bija 51 dalībnieks, kuri aizpildīja CISS aptauju un veica fiksācijas disparitātes mērījumus, lai izvērtētu šo divu parametru saistību.
