A family of enneanuclear iron(II) single-molecule magnets.

2008

Complexes [Fe 9 (X) 2 -(02CMe)8{(2-py) 2 CO 2 } 4 ] (X - = OH (1), N 3 - (2), and NCO- (3)) have been prepared by a route previously employed for the synthesis of analogous Co 9 and Ni 9 complexes, involving hydroxide substitution by pseudohalides (N 3 - , NCO-). As indicated by DC magnetic susceptibility measurements, this substitution induced higher ferromagnetic couplings in complexes 2 and 3, leading to higher ground spin states compared to that of 1. Variable-field experiments have shown that the ground state is not well isolated from excited states, as a result of which it cannot be unambiguously determined. AC susceptometry has revealed out-of-phase signals, which suggests that these…

Competing Phases Involving Spin-State and Ligand Structural Orderings in a Multistable Two-Dimensional Spin Crossover Coordination Polymer

2017

[EN] Competition between spin-crossover and structural ligand ordering is identified as responsible for multistability and generation of six different phases in a rigid two-dimensional coordination polymer formulated {Fe-II[Hg-II(SCN)(3)](2) mu-(4,4'-bipy)(2)}(n) (1) (4,4'-bipy = 4,4'-bipyridine). The structure of 1 consists of infinite linear [Fe(mu-4,4'-bipy)](n)(2n+) chains linked by in situ formed {[Hg-II(SCN)(3)](2)(mu-4,4'-bipy)}(2n-) anionic dimers. The thermal dependence of the high-spin fraction, his, features four magnetic phases defined by steps following the sequence gamma(HS) = 1 (phase 1) gamma(HS) = 1/2 (phase 2) gamma(HS) approximate to 1/3 (phase 3) gamma(HS) = 0 (phase 4) …

Study of Intermediate-spin States of $^{98}$Y

2015

The nuclear structure of the odd–odd nucleus 98Y has been re-investigated by observing prompt γ rays emitted following the proton-induced fission of a 238U target, using the JUROGAM-II multidetector array. New highspin decays have been observed and placed in the level schemes using triple coincidences. The experimental level energies and γ-decay patterns are compared to GICM and QPRM calculations, assuming that this neutronrich N = 59 isotone is spherical at low energies and prolate deformed at intermediate spins.
