Data from: Seasonal genetic variation associated with population dynamics of a poecilogonous polychaete worm
2018
Poecilogonous species show variation in developmental mode, with larvae that differ both morphologically and ecologically. The spionid polychaete Pygospio elegans shows variation in developmental mode not only between populations, but also seasonally within populations. We investigated the consequences of this developmental polymorphism on the spatial and seasonal genetic structure of P. elegans at four sites in the Danish Isefjord-Roskilde-Fjord estuary at six time points, from March 2014 until February 2015. We found genetic differentiation between our sampling sites as well as seasonal differentiation at two of the sites. The seasonal genetic shift correlated with the appearance of new s…

Intravenous SPION-labeled adipocyte-derived stem cells targeted to the brain by magnetic attraction in a rat stroke model: An ultrastructural insight…
2021
Abstract Mesenchymal stem cell therapy after stroke is a promising option investigated in animal models and clinical trials. The intravenous route is commonly used in clinical settings guaranteeing an adequate safety profile although low yields of engraftment. In this report, rats subjected to ischemic stroke were injected with adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) labeled with superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) applying an external magnetic field in the skull to retain the cells. Although most published studies demonstrate viability of ADSCs, only a few have used ultrastructural techniques. In our study, the application of a local magnetic force resulted in a tendency for hig…

Ferritin-Coated SPIONs as New Cancer Cell Targeted Magnetic Nanocarrier
2023
Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) may act as an excellent theragnostic tool if properly coated and stabilized in a biological environment, even more, if they have targeting properties towards a specific cellular target. Humanized Archaeoglobus fulgidus Ferritin (HumAfFt) is an engineered ferritin characterized by the peculiar salt-triggered assembly-disassembly of the hyperthermophile Archaeoglobus fulgidus ferritin and is successfully endowed with the human H homopolymer recognition sequence by the transferrin receptor (TfR1 or CD71), overexpressed in many cancer cells in response to the increased demand of iron. For this reason, HumAfFt was successfully used in this stud…
Theoretical Models of Industrial Espionage
2012
Seasonal variation in diversity of marine benthic invertebrates leads to a positive species-genetic diversity correlation (SGDC)
2018
Species-genetic diversity correlations (SGDCs) are useful indicators of processes that simultaneously affect diversity at multiple biological levels. We combined spatial and temporal sampling of 4 study sites in the Danish Isefjord-Roskilde Fjord Estuary at 4 time points over 1 yr to investigate the effect of seasonal variation on SGDCs. Species diversity was estimated as species richness from samples comprising 20752 individuals representing 51 benthic invertebrate taxa. Genetic diversity was estimated for a single focal taxon, the polychaete Pygospio elegans, as mean allelic richness at 7 microsatellite loci. Combining all samples, a significant positive correlation between species richne…
Recenzja: J. Widacki, A. Szuba-Boroń, Sprawy o szpiegostwo przed sądami wileńskimi w okresie II RP. Przyczynek do historii zmagań polskiego wywiadu i…
2021
Problematyka badawcza, którą podjęli J. Widacki i A. Szuba-Boroń nie była dotąd przedmiotem zainteresowań naukowych. Jan Widacki podczas sprawowania misji dyplomatycznej w Wilnie kontynuował swoje zainteresowania naukowe, docierając do akt spraw o szpiegostwo z okresu międzywojennego. Natomiast Anna Szuba- -Boroń badając m.in. akta spraw o szpiegostwo zajęła się prozą Sergiusza Piaseckiego, pisarza i byłego szpiega.
Nanosystem for diagnosis and photothermal treatment of tumors
2022
The invention relates to a nanosystem for the diagnosis, image-guided treatment of tumors and monitoring of the tumor microenvironment. The nanosystem is a contrast agent comprising a polymer shell based on a hyaluronic acid nanogel, super-parameg-netic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) and carbon nanoparticles (CDs).
