Puuttuvuuden mallintaminen FINRISKI-tutkimuksessa

2017

Fundoplicatio sec. Nissen videolaparoscopica e metaplasia intestinale in esofago: osservazioni preliminari

2005

The aim of this preliminary study conducted in a few cases was the retrospective evaluation of the effects of laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication on oesophageal intestinal metaplasia. Seventy-seven patients with hiatal hernia underwent digital videofluorography, endoscopy with biopsies, motility studies and 24-h oesophageal pH-monitoring. On the basis of the results of the diagnostic procedures and considering the patients' ages and response to proton-pump inhibitor treatment, 8 patients underwent laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication; in 5 cases intestinal metaplasia was present at histopathological examination. Two of these had Barrett's oesophagus at endoscopy and intestinal metaplasia was a…

Reconstitution of CD52-Negative CD4 T Cells after Alemtuzumab-Based T Cell Depleted Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation

2008

Abstract The human CD52 molecule is the target of the monoclonal antibody Alemtuzumab, which is used for treating patients with chemo-refractory chronic lymphocytic leukemia as well as for T cell depletion (TCD) in the context of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). The molecule is expressed on the surface of lymphocytes, dendritic cells and to a lesser extent on blood-derived monocytes. Previously, investigators have demonstrated that the surface expression of CD52 on T cells is down-regulated after in vitro incubation with Alemtuzumab. By treating purified human CD4 T cells over 4 hours with 10 μg/mL Alemtuzumab in medium supplemented with 10% human AB serum in vitro…

Electric hyperfine interaction in199Hg fluorides

1985

With the current integration technique, the Mossbauer effect on the 158 keV, 5/2−→1/2− transition in199Hg was studied using the cubic HgF2 and the tetragonal Hg2F2 as absorbers; in the latter, a quadrupole splittingeQVzz=}- 9.0(2) mm/s was observed. Electron densities were calculated with the self-consistent-charge-extended-Hueckel-molecular-orbital method and δ〈r2〉=(3.26±0.11) fm2 derived. From the quadrupole splitting and the calculation, an effective antishielding factor almost twice that of the neutral Hg atom is derived.

Approximation properties of higher degree F-transforms based on B-splines

2015

The paper deals with the F-transform with polynomial components with respect to a generalized fuzzy partition given by B-splines. We investigate approximation properties of the inverse F-transform in this case and prove that using B-splines allows us to improve the quality of approximation of smooth functions.

Block Based Deconvolution Algorithm Using Spline Wavelet Packets

2010

This paper presents robust algorithms to deconvolve discrete noised signals and images. The idea behind the algorithms is to solve the convolution equation separately in different frequency bands. This is achieved by using spline wavelet packets. The solutions are derived as linear combinations of the wavelet packets that minimize some parameterized quadratic functionals. Parameters choice, which is performed automatically, determines the trade-off between the solution regularity and the initial data approximation. This technique, which id called Spline Harmonic Analysis, provides a unified computational scheme for the design of orthonormal spline wavelet packets, fast implementation of the…

Paracrine in vivo inhibitory effects of adipose tissue–derived mesenchymal stromal cells in the early stages of the acute inflammatory response

2015

Abstract Background aims Excessive or unresolved inflammation leads to tissue lesions. Adipose tissue–derived mesenchymal stromal cells (AMSCs) have shown protective effects that may be dependent on the modulation of inflammation by secreted factors. Methods We used the zymosan-induced mouse air pouch model at two time points (4 h and 18 h) to evaluate the in vivo effects of AMSCs and their conditioned medium (CM) on key steps of the early inflammatory response. We assessed the effects of AMSCs and CM on leukocyte migration and myeloperoxidase activity. The levels of chemokines, cytokines and eicosanoids in exudates were measured by use of enzyme-linked immunoassay or radio-immunoassay. In …

Social impacts of biodiversity offsetting: A review

2022

Biodiversity offsetting is the widely studied last step of the mitigation hierarchy. Despite numerous studies and the methodological development completed for biodiversity calculations, the human aspect remains unsolved. Biodiversity conservation is typically governed at national or state levels, but the harm caused to biodiversity as well as people occurs locally. In biodiversity offsetting, biodiversity values can be relocated far from the original area, but relocating the values people hold regarding their nearby nature may not be possible. Acknowledging the local people's hopes and values may further complicate biodiversity offsetting, therefore it emphasises even more the need to avoid…

Distinctive Patterns of Intraclonal Diversification In IGHV1-2*04 Immunoglobulin Receptors of Patients with Splenic Marginal Zone Lymphoma: A of Ongo…

2011

Abstract Abstract 2638 We recently demonstrated that over 30% of cases with splenic marginal-zone lymphoma (SMZL) express distinctive immunoglobulin (IG) receptors that utilize a single polymorphic variant of the IGHV1-2 gene (IGHV1-2*04) and also exhibit restricted antigen-binding site motifs and precise targeting of somatic hypermutation (SHM). On these grounds, we proposed the existence of molecular subtypes of SMZL defined by immunogenetic analysis of the IG receptors with implications for selection by specific (super) antigenic element(s) in the development of at least a major subset of SMZL. In order to gain insight as to whether antigen involvement is relevant only prior to the malig…

Normal metal - insulator - superconductor interferometer

2003

Hybrid normal metal - insulator - superconductor microstructures suitable for studying an interference of electrons were fabricated. The structures consist of a superconducting loop connected to a normal metal electrode through a tunnel barrier . An optical interferometer with a beam splitter can be considered as a classical analogue for this system. All measurements were performed at temperatures well below 1 K. The interference can be observed as periodic oscillations of the tunnel current (voltage) through the junction at fixed bias voltage (current) as a function of a perpendicular magnetic field. The magnitude of the oscillations depends on the bias point. It reaches a maximum at energ…
