2017

AbstractHead Space-Solid Phase Micro Extraction (HS-SPME) extractions and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis allowed the identification of 72 different compounds isolated from 7 different wild inedible fungi collected in Mediterranean forest ecosystems. The VOCs reported in this study, including a total of 5 esters, 17 alcohols, 14 aldehydes, 9 ketones, 18 terpenes and 9 other compounds, have been never characterized before for Tricholoma ustaloides, Hygrophorus cossus, Russula foetens and Mycena pura.

Drosophila cuticular hydrocarbons revisited : Mating status alters cuticular profiles

2010

Editor: Frederic Marion-Poll, INRA - Paris 6 - AgroParisTech, France.; International audience; Most living organisms use pheromones for inter-individual communication. In Drosophila melanogaster flies, several pheromones perceived either by contact/at a short distance (cuticular hydrocarbons, CHs), or at a longer distance (cis-vaccenyl acetate, cVA), affect courtship and mating behaviours. However, it has not previously been possible to precisely identify all potential pheromonal compounds and simultaneously monitor their variation on a time scale. To overcome this limitation, we combined Solid Phase Micro-Extraction with gas-chromatography coupled with mass-spectrometry. This allowed us (i…

Determination of meropenem in endotracheal tubes by in-tube solid phase microextraction coupled to capillary liquid chromatography with diode array d…

2017

Meropenem is a widely used antimicrobial for the treatment of infections associated with the use of invasive medical devices in intensive care unit patients. These treatments are not always effective, in fact, in-vitro studies have demonstrated the difficulty of antimicrobials to penetrate into the biofilm, however in-vivo studies of the effect of these compounds is a trend, mostly because of the complexity of pulmonary samples extracted from ETTs. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate in-tube solid phase microextraction (in-tube SPME) coupled to capillary liquid chromatography (CapLC) with DAD to determine meropenem in Errs in order to estimate the penetration capability i…

Desarrollo de nuevas estrategias para el diseño de técnicas de cromatografía líquida miniaturizada en línea: nanopartículas, contaminación secundaria

2019

In recent years one of the most important trends in Analytical Chemistry has been the development of new analytical methodologies based on the miniaturization, simplification and automatization of the analytical process, in order to reduce the environmental impact of the analysis without compromising the sensitivity and selectivity. In this respect miniaturized liquid chromatography (LC) systems, such as capillary liquid chromatography (CapLC) and nanoliquid chromatography (NanoLC) are important achievements. These techniques are environmental friendly because the amount of material involved is limited and organic solvents, electricity and the wastes generated are lower than in conventional…

Miniaturized liquid chromatography: on‐line coupling to in‐tube solid phase microextraction and portability for different matrices

2020

Recent innovations and trends in analytical chemistry lead to the development and application of new instrumental systems, innovative sample treatment techniques, and application to problem solving in various fields of analysis. Likewise, the growing concern about the reduction of the environmental impact during the analytical process, without impairing benefits in terms of selectivity and sensitivity, have modulated the main topics in this field of research. In this context, the continuous application of miniaturized liquid chromatography (LC) systems, including capillary liquid chromatography (CapLC) and nano liquid chromatography (NanoLC), has represented important advances, due to their…

Understanding the role of saliva in aroma release from wine by using static and dynamic headspace conditions.

2014

The aim of this work was to determine the role of saliva in wine aroma release by using static and dynamic headspace conditions. In the latter conditions, two different sampling points (t = 0 and t = 10 min) corresponding with oral (25.5 °C) and postoral phases (36 °C) were monitored. Both methodologies were applied to reconstituted dearomatized white and red wines with different nonvolatile wine matrix compositions and a synthetic wine (without matrix effect). All of the wines had the same ethanol concentration and were spiked with a mixture of 45 aroma compounds covering a wide range of physicochemical characteristics at typical wine concentrations. Two types of saliva (human and artifici…

Investigation on the influence of spray-drying technology on the quality of Sicilian Nero d’Avola wines

2018

The purpose of the present work was to find a correlation between microencapsulation technology applied to wines and the resulting quality of the wine itself in terms of volatile composition and phenolic profile. To this aim, samples of Nero d'Avola wines produced in Sicily (Italy) were investigated in order to: i) elucidate the aromatic composition by means of HS–SPME coupled with GC–MS; ii) assess the polyphenolic content by UHPLC mass spectrometry; iii) compare the results obtained from both the screenings with those relative to the same wines that had previously been subjected to spray-drying. The results showed a marked reductionThe results here obtained evidenced a marked reductio…

Use of SPME extraction to determine organophosphorus pesticides adsorption phenomena in water and soil matrices

2005

Solid-phase micro extraction (SPME) coupled with GC enables rapid and simple analysis of organophosphorus pesticides in a range of complex matrices. Investigations were made into the extraction efficiencies from water of six organophosphorus insecticides (methamidophos, omethoate, dimethoate, parathion methyl, malathion, and parathion ethyl) showing a wide range of polarities. Three SPME fibres coated with different stationary phases, polydimethylsiloxane, polyacrylate, and carbowax-divinylbenzene (CW-DVB), were investigated. Water was spiked with the pesticides at concentrations from 1 to 0.01 µg mL-1, and the solutions used for optimization of the procedure. The CW-DVB fibre, with a 65 µm…

Botanical Origin Authentication of Polish Phacelia Honey Using the Combination of Volatile Fraction Profiling by HS-SPME and Lipophilic Fraction Prof…

2019

Eleven samples of Polish Phacelia tanacetifolia Benth., three Brassica napus and one Salix spp. honeys were characterized by melissopalynology and analysis of the compositions of their volatile fractions. Headspace solid-phase microextraction coupled with gas chromatography mass spectrometry (HS-SPME/GC–MS) using PDMS/CAR/DVB fiber was used for the isolation of low-molecular weight compounds which create a volatile fraction. To differentiate and indicate the most representative unifloral samples, chemometric techniques such as principal component analysis (PCA) and hierarchical-tree clustering (HTC) were applied to the dataset of the chromatographic fingerprints. Based on the obtained resul…
