High-precision mass measurements for the isobaric multiplet mass equation atA= 52

Masses of $^{52}$Co, $^{52}$Co$^m$, $^{52}$Fe, $^{52}$Fe$^m$, and $^{52}$Mn have been measured with the JYFLTRAP double Penning trap mass spectrometer. Of these, $^{52}$Co and $^{52}$Co$^m$ have been experimentally determined for the first time and found to be more bound than predicted by extrapolations. The isobaric multiplet mass equation for the $T=2$ quintet at $A=52$ has been studied employing the new mass values. No significant breakdown (beyond the $3\sigma$ level) of the quadratic form of the IMME was observed ($\chi^2/n=2.4$). The cubic coefficient was 6.0(32) keV ($\chi^2/n=1.1$). The heaviest actinide elements are only accessible in accelerator-based experiments on a one-atom-at-a-time level. Usually, fusion–evaporation reactions are applied to reach these elements. However, access to the neutron-rich isotopes is limited. An alternative reaction mechanism to fusion–evaporation is multinucleon transfer, which features higher cross-sections. The main drawback of this technique is the wide angular distribution of the transfer products, which makes it challenging to catch and prepare them for precision measurements. The accurate characterization of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) in environmental samples is crucial for understanding the potential impact of these materials on the environment and human health. Single-particle inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (spICP-MS) is one of the few techniques available for quantifying NPs at environmentally relevant concentrations. However, the spICP-MS detection of Ag NPs can be interfered with coexisting dissolved analyte causing high background signals, which mask NP signals leading to a significant bias in NP characterization. Direct mass measurements on neutron-deficient xenon isotopes with the ISOLTRAP mass spectrometer

The masses of Xe isotopes with 124 A 114 have been measured using the ISOLTRAP spectrometer at the on-line mass separator ISOLDE/CERN. A mass resolving power of 500000 was chosen resulting in an accuracy of m 12 keV for all isotopes investigated. Status and development of the MARA low-energy branch

The MARA Low-Energy Branch is under development at the Accelerator Laboratory of the University of Jyvaskylä. The facility will be employed for laser ionisation and spectroscopy studies and for mass measurements of nuclei close to the proton drip line. This article presents an updated status of the ongoing development of the different parts of this facility, including the buffer gas cell, the ion transport system, the laser system and the detector stations. peerReviewed
An off-line ion guide quadrupole mass spectrometer system

Off-line ioniohjain kvadrupolimassaspektrometri systeemi. Uuden erillisen ioniohjain-kvadrupolimassaspektrometri (IGQMS) -systeemin käyttöönotto on esitetty tässä työssä. Laitteisto on kehitetty uusien tekniikoiden testaamiseen ja kehittämiseen IGISOL–laitoksella. Työssä on tutkittu laitteiston differentiaalista pumpaussysteemiä ja laitteiston etuosan kuljetustehokkuutta käyttäen 223Ra alfa-rekyylilähdettä. Painemittausten tulokset eri parametreilla ovat esitetty. Kaasuohjaimen käyttöpainealue on mitattu olevan 1 ja 700 mbar:n välillä pitäen käyttöpaineen QMS kammiossa, ja skimmer-systeemin läpäisytehokkuus olevan lähellä 100 %. Abstract Concentrations of pharmaceuticals, consisting of four anti-inflammatory and one antiepileptic drug, were studied in the aqueous and solid phase of municipal sewage sludge, collected from a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in central Finland. The samples included untreated municipal sludge from the biological wastewater treatment, digested sludge and sludge before and after composting. First, samples were taken as grab samples to study the bioavailable part in aqueous phase but also the part in solid fraction.
