Use of nodulation pattern, stress tolerance, nodC gene amplification, RAPD-PCR and RFLP-16S rDNA analysis to discriminate genotypes of Rhizobium legu…
2005
Twenty-seven new Rhizobium isolates were obtained from root nodules of wild and crop legumes belonging to the genera Vicia, Lathyrus and Pisum from different agroecological areas in central and southern Italy. A polyphasic approach including phenotypic and genotypic techniques was used to study their diversity and their relationships with other biovars and species of rhizobia. Analysis of symbiotic properties and stress tolerance tests revealed that wild isolates, showed a wide spectrum of nodulation and a marked variation in stress tolerance compared with reference strains tested in this study. All rhizobial isolates (except for the isolate CG4 from Galega officinalis) were presumptively i…
OpenGL kodola kolapsa vizualizācija
2021
Decision support for centralizing cargo at a Moroccan airport hub using stochastic multicriteria acceptability analysis
2010
The geographical location of Morocco places it at the heart of important sea, air, rail and motorway transport routes between four continents. In this study we evaluate different alternatives to centralize multimodal cargo at a Moroccan airport hub. The choice depends on different socio-economical criteria, the geographical location, and the environmental impacts. Some of the criteria can be measured quantitatively, while for others only qualitative assessment is feasible. Furthermore, significant uncertainty is present in both the criteria measurements and the preferences. We aided this decision process using Stochastic Multicriteria Acceptability Analysis (SMAA). SMAA is a method that all…
Iron(ii) complexes of tris(2-pyridylmethyl)amine (TPMA) and neutral bidentate ligands showing thermal- and photo-induced spin crossover
2018
Three new mononuclear Fe(ii) complexes have been prepared and characterized by the combination of tetradentate tris(2-pyridylmethyl)amine (TPMA) with three neutral bidentate ligands, such as ethylenediamine (en), 1,2-diaminopropane (pn) and 2-picolylamine (2-pic), in compounds [FeII(TPMA)(en)](ClO4)2 (1), [FeII(TPMA)(2-pic)](ClO4)2 (2) and [FeII(TPMA)(pn)](ClO4)2 (3). Structural and magnetic characterization demonstrates that the three compounds present a complete SCO behavior. The absence of strong intermolecular interactions and solvent molecules leads to reversible and gradual spin transitions. The different ligands allow tuning T1/2 from 130 K (2) to 325 K (3). The compound with the low…
X-ray study of the light-induced metastable state of a spin-crossover compound
2000
Iron(II) complexes exhibiting thermal spin crossover may be converted from the1A1low-spin (LS) state to the5T2high-spin (HS) state by irradiation with green light (light-induced excited spin-state trapping, LIESST). The lifetime of the metastable LIESST state may be sufficiently long for X-ray diffraction study. The lattice parameters of a single crystal of [Fe(ptz)6](BF4)2(ptz = propyltetrazole) were measured between 300 and 10 K, while the crystal changed from the HS to the LS state near 135 K. Using the green light (514 nm) of an argon-ion laser, the crystal was quantitatively converted to the metastable LIESST state at 10 K; its lattice parameters were measured up to 50 K, at which poin…
The LIESST state of [Fe(pic)3]Cl2.EtOH – the superstructure under continuous irradiation
2005
The superstructure recently discovered in [Fe(pic)3]Cl2.EtOH at temperatures inside the step region of the high-spin–low-spin transition curve sheds new light on the anomalous transition behaviour in spin crossover compounds. The structure of the metastable LIESST state of [Fe(pic)3]Cl2.EtOH at 10 K has been measured. The decay has been followed by X-ray diffraction using a CCD camera in order to detect reflections of the superstructure building up during the decay. No signal above the noise of the CCD camera was observed, so that even diffuse scattering could not be detected. This finding is in agreement with correlation lengths of pair correlations of molecules in the HS and LS states bei…

Inverting Multiple Residual Stress Components from Multiple Cuts with the Contour Method
2007
An extension of the contour method is presented which allows the measurement of multiple stress components by making multiple cuts. In the contour method, a body is carefully cut in two using wire electric discharge machining (EDM). The contours, or shapes, of the cut surfaces are then measured and used to calculate the original residual stress normal to the cut plane using a simple finite element calculation. In the extension presented here, the two pieces from the original body can be cut again in a transverse direction, and the contours of the new cut surfaces are measured. The stresses calculated on the planes of these second cuts have been affected by the first cut. Then a simple inver…
