Stability and synthesis of superheavy elements: Fighting the battle against fission – example of $^{254}$No

International audience; Superheavy nuclei exist solely due to quantum shell effects,which create a pocket in the potential-energy surface of the nucleus, thusproviding a barrier against spontaneous fission. Determining the height ofthe fission barrier and its angular-momentum dependence is important toquantify the role that microscopic shell corrections play in enhancing andextending the limits of nuclear stability. In this talk, the first measurement ofa fission barrier in the very heavy nucleus 254No will be presented.

Effect of high methoxyl pectin on pea protein in aqueous solution and at oil/water interface

International audience; The effect of the addition of high methoxyl pectin on the stability of pea protein isolate emulsions was investigated. Except for low pectin concentrations at acidic pHs where bridging flocculation occurred the addition of pectin improved emulsion stability to pH changes and depletion flocculation induced by maltodextrin addition. Control of hysteretic instability in rotating machinery by elastic suspension systems subject to dry and viscous friction

Abstract Most of the undesired whirling motions of rotating machines can be efficiently reduced by supporting journal boxes elastically and controlling their movement by viscous dampers or by dry friction surfaces normal to the shaft axis, which rub against the frame. In the case of dry dampers, resonance ranges of the floating support configuration can be easily cut off by planning a motionless adhesive state of the friction surfaces. Gain sideband splitting in dispersion oscillating fibers

International audience; We analyze the modulation instability spectrum in a varying dispersion optical fiber as a function of the dispersion oscillation amplitude. For large dispersion oscillations, we predict a novel sideband splitting into different sub-sidebands. The emergence of the new sidebands is observed whenever the classical perturbation analysis for parametric resonances predicts vanishing sideband amplitudes. The numerical results are in good quantitative agreement with Floquet or Bloch stability analysis of four-wave mixing in the periodic dispersion fiber. We have also shown that linear gain or loss may have a dramatic influence in reshaping the new sidebands.

This paper presents mathematical model of a computer network and then the model has been presented in the form of a flow chart. RED algorithm is a standard in computer network. RED algorithm has been replaced with the PI controller. Stability in a System subject to Noise with Regulated Periodicity

The stability of a simple dynamical system subject to multiplicative one-side pulse noise with hidden periodicity is investigated both analytically and numerically. The stability analysis is based on the exact result for the characteristic functional of the renewal pulse process. The influence of the memory effects on the stability condition is analyzed for two cases: (i) the dead-time-distorted poissonian process, and (ii) the renewal process with Pareto distribution. We show that, for fixed noise intensity, the system can be stable when the noise is characterized by high periodicity and unstable at low periodicity.

Two competing species in super-diffusive dynamical regimes

The dynamics of two competing species within the framework of the generalized Lotka-Volterra equations, in the presence of multiplicative alpha-stable Lévy noise sources and a random time dependent interaction parameter, is studied.
