Quark Structure of the X (4500), X (4700) and χc(4P,5P) States

We study some of the main properties (masses and open-flavor strong decay widths) of 4P and 5P charmonia. While there are two candidates for the χc0(4P,5P) states, the X(4500) and X(4700), the properties of the other members of the χc(4P,5P) multiplets are still completely unknown. With this in mind, we start to explore the charmonium interpretation for these mesons. Our second goal is to investigate if the apparent mismatch between the Quark Model (QM) predictions for χc0(4P,5P) states and the properties of the X(4500) and X(4700) mesons can be overcome by introducing threshold corrections in the QM formalism. Hidden beauty molecules within the local hidden gauge approach and heavy quark spin symmetry

Using a coupled channel unitary approach, combining the heavy quark spin symmetry and the dynamics of the local hidden gauge, we investigate the meson-meson interaction with hidden beauty and obtain several new states. Both I = 0 and I = 1 states are analyzed, and it is shown that in the I = 1 sector, the interactions are too weak to create any bound states within our framework. In total, we predict with confidence the existence of six bound states and six more possible weakly bound states. The existence of these weakly bound states depends on the influence of the coupled channel effects.

Spin crossover phenomenon of a semi-fluorinated iron (II) complex organized in a Langmuir–Blodgett film

Abstract A new amphiphilic iron (II) complex bearing semi-fluorinated chains has been organized in Langmuir and Langmuir–Blodgett (LB) films. This molecule forms a perfectly stable monolayer at the gas–water interface. Such a film can be transferred easily onto a solid substrate leading to well-defined multilayers. The spin crossover phenomenon occurring in this material has been studied by infrared spectroscopy and magnetization measurements. In the LB film architecture, the iron complex appears to be quenched in a high spin state. This quenching can be released after a thermal annealing and is therefore associated to the specific organization induced by the LB technique.
Structure development in poly(ethylene terephthalate) quenched from the melt at high cooling rates: X-ray scattering and microhardness study

The structure and microhardness of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) cooled from the melt, using a wide range of cooling rates, was studied. PET thin films rapidly cooled from the melt (cooling rates larger than 5°C/s) show a continuous variation of structure and properties depending on cooling rate. Results highlight differences in the micro-mechanical properties of the glass suggesting the occurrence of amorphous structures with different degrees of internal chain ordering. On the Nature of the Plateau in Two-Step Dinuclear Spin-Crossover Complexes

A remarkable feature of the spin-crossover process in several dinuclear iron(II) compounds is a plateau in the two-step transition curve. Up to now, it has not been possible to analyse the spin state of dinuclear pairs that constitute such a plateau, due to the relative high temperatures at which the transition takes place in complexes investigated so far. We solved this problem by experimentally studying a novel dinuclear spin-crossover compound [[Fe(phdia)(NCS)(2)](2)(phdia)] (phdia: 4,7-phenanthroline-5,6-diamine). Background This study presents a novel methodology for estimating all-age, population-based incidence rates of norovirus and other pathogens that contribute to acute gastroenteritis in the United States using an integrated healthcare delivery system as a surveillance platform. Methods All cases of medically attended acute gastroenteritis within the delivery system were identified from April 1, 2014 through September 30, 2016. A sample of these eligible patients were selected to participate in two phone-based surveys and to self-collect a stool sample for laboratory testing. International audience; A five-dimensional intermolecular potential for H2O-D-2 was obtained from the full nine-dimensional ab initio potential surface of Valiron et al. [P. Valiron, M. Wernli, A. Faure, L. Wiesenfeld, C. Rist, S. Kedzuch, J. Noga, J. Chem. Phys. 129 (2008) 134306] by averaging over the ground state vibrational wave functions of H2O and D-2. Orbital mapping of carbon thin films by XANES-spectromicroscopy

Abstract A laterally resolved micro-XANES study (X-ray absorption near edge structure) of amorphous carbon, hydrogen terminated CVD-diamond (100) and highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) is presented. The results were obtained by means of a photoemission electron microscope. Using this technique the well-known spectral features of carbon in its different chemical states (sp 2 , sp 3 ) could be recorded. The sp 2 /sp 3 content of the films was extracted from the spectra. Images, taken at X-ray energies corresponding to maxima (π*, C–H*) of the unoccupied density of states in these spectra, map the lateral distribution of the different orbitals at the sample surface. Luminescence of cerium doped YAG nanopowders

Abstract Cerium doped YAG nanopowders with grain size ∼ 20 nm have been synthesized by co-precipitation method. Time-resolved luminescence characteristics have been studied. The results obtained have been compared with the luminescence characteristics for well-studied YAG single crystals. In contrast to cerium doped YAG crystals, cerium doped nanocrystal does not reveal luminescence bands due to antisite defects under electron beam pulse and X-ray excitations at 80–300 K temperature range. It was detected that decay kinetic of Ce 3 + related emission in the nanocrystal can be approximated by two exponents with time constants ∼ 9 and ∼ 47 ns at 290 K.
