Photometric and Spectroscopic Properties of Type Ia Supernova 2018oh with Early Excess Emission from the $Kepler$ 2 Observations

2019

Supernova (SN) 2018oh (ASASSN-18bt) is the first spectroscopically-confirmed type Ia supernova (SN Ia) observed in the $Kepler$ field. The $Kepler$ data revealed an excess emission in its early light curve, allowing to place interesting constraints on its progenitor system (Dimitriadis et al. 2018, Shappee et al. 2018b). Here, we present extensive optical, ultraviolet, and near-infrared photometry, as well as dense sampling of optical spectra, for this object. SN 2018oh is relatively normal in its photometric evolution, with a rise time of 18.3$\pm$0.3 days and $\Delta$m$_{15}(B)=0.96\pm$0.03 mag, but it seems to have bluer $B - V$ colors. We construct the "uvoir" bolometric light curve hav…

Two Remarkably Luminous Galaxy Candidates at z ≈ 10-12 Revealed by JWST

2022

The first few 100 Myr at z > 10 mark the last major uncharted epoch in the history of the universe, where only a single galaxy (GN-z11 at z ≈ 11) is currently spectroscopically confirmed. Here we present a search for luminous z > 10 galaxies with JWST/NIRCam photometry spanning ≈1–5 μm and covering 49 arcmin2 from the public JWST Early Release Science programs (CEERS and GLASS). Our most secure candidates are two MUV ≈ −21 systems: GLASS-z12 and GLASS-z10. These galaxies display abrupt ≳1.8 mag breaks in their spectral energy distributions (SEDs), consistent with complete absorption of flux bluewards of Lyα that is redshifted to =+z12.40.3 0.1and=+z10.40.5 0.4. Coordinated induction of drug transporters and phase I and II metabolism in human liver slices

2008

Although regulation of phase I drug metabolism in human liver is relatively well studied, the regulation of phase II enzymes and of drug transporters is incompletely characterized. Therefore, we used human liver slices to investigate the PXR, CAR and AhR-mediated induction of drug transporters and phase I and II metabolic enzymes. Precision-cut human liver slices were incubated for 5 or 24 h with prototypical inducers: phenobarbital (PB) (50 mu M) for CAR, beta-naphthoflavone (BNF) (25 mu M) for AhR, and rifampicin (RIF) (10 mu M) for PXR, and gene expression of the phase I enzymes CYP1A1, 1A2, 3A4, 3A5, 2136, 2A6, the phase II enzymes UGT1A1 and 1A6, and the transporters MRP2, MDR1, BSEP, …

Synthesis, chemical characterization, computational studies and biological activity of new DNA methyltransferases (DNMTs) specific inhibitor. Epigene…

2015

This work deals with the synthesis, the chemical characterization of dibutyltin(IV) complex of caffeic acid (Bu2Sn(IV)HCAF, caf1) and its cytotoxic action on tumor cells. The coordination environment at the tin center was investigated by FTIR, (119)Sn{(1)H} cross polarization magic angle spinning, electrospray ionization mass spectroscopy in the solid state and UV-vis, fluorescence and (1)H, (13)C and (119)Sn NMR spectroscopy in solution phases. Density functional theory study confirmed the proposed structures in solution phase and indicated the most probably stable conformation. The effects on viability of breast cancer MDA-MB231, colorectal cancer HCT116, hepatocellular carcinoma HepG2 an…

Z przeszłości miejscowości i parafii Jaworzno k. Wielunia. Materiały z konferencji naukowej nt. jubileuszu stulecia wznowienia parafii

2019

Year 2019 marks the first anniversary of the renewal of the Most Holy Trinity Parish in Jaworzno near the town of Wieluń. This event was celebrated both by inhabitants and clergy on 15–16 June 2019. On that occasion, on Saturday on the 15th of June, a historical conference entitled “The Jubilee of the 100 years of the Most Holy Trinity Parish in Jaworzno near the town of Wieluń” was held. The conference led to produce the historical monograph of the Parish. Six people in eleven papers and memoirs dealt with the historical issues of the Parish in Jaworzno. The first paper presentation by Rev. Prof. Dr. Hab. Jan Związek leads the reader to the earliest days of Christianity on the territory of…

A Special Issue on Advances in Machine Learning for Remote Sensing and Geosciences [From the Guest Editors]

2016

Machine learning has become a standard paradigm for the analysis of remote sensing and geoscience data at both local and global scales. In the upcoming years, with the advent of new satellite constellations, machine learning will have a fundamental role in processing large and heterogeneous data sources. Machine learning will move from mere statistical data processing to actual learning, understanding, and knowledge extraction. The ambitious goal is to provide responses to the challenging scientific questions about the earth system. This special issue aims at providing an updated, refreshing view of current developments in the field. For this special issue, we have collected five articles t…
