Artykuł ma na celu przybliżenie zagadnień związanych z różnym pojmowaniem koncepcji stylu na Wschodzie i na Zachodzie. W ujęciu lingwistycznym zestawione zostaną określenia dotyczące stylu występujące w stylu osobniczym badacza stylu w języku polskim i definicje stylu zawarte w znaczeniu ideogramów języka chińskiego mandaryńskiego w wersji tradycyjnej. Konkretne realizacje, spotykane w tekstach specjalistycznych, zestawione zostaną z semantyką odległego geograficznie i strukturalnie języka, by ułatwić odpowiedź na pytanie o indywidualistyczny i uniwersalistyczny - uzależniony bądź nie od kulturowych czynników - charakter myślenia ludzkiego, ujawniający się w odniesieniu do koncepcji stylu.

The objectives of this paper are twofold: to prove the thesis on the openness of a purposefully selected researcher and to take advantage of the opportunity to present some of his thoughts, taken from his abundant publications (more than three hundred items). The authors focus on the presentation of one topic, i.e. openness in the works of linguist Professor Wojciech Chlebda. This subject sometimes appears on the surface when the researcher speaks explicitly about it, but is frequently present in presuppositions or on a metalinguistic level. As databases make Corpus Linguistics a common tool for most linguists, corpus annotation becomes an increasingly important process. Corpus users do not need only raw data, but also annotated data, submitted to tagging or parsing processes through annotation protocols. One problem with corpus annotation lies in its reliability, that is, in the probability that its results can be replicable by independent researchers. Inter-annotation agreement (IAA) is the process which evaluates the probability that, applying the same protocol, different annotators reach similar results. The structure of coronal plasma in active stellar coronae from density measurements

We have analyzed high-resolution X-ray spectra of a sample of 22 active stars observed with the High Energy Transmission Grating Spectrometer (HETGS) on Chandra in order to investigate their coronal plasma density, using the lines of the He-like ions O VII, Mg XI, and Si XIII. Si XII lines in all stars of the sample axe compatible with the low-density limit (i.e. n(e) = 10(30) erg/s); O VII lines yield much lower densities of a few 10(10) cm(-3). Our results indicate that the "hot" and "cool" plasma resides in physically different structures. Work-related language learning trajectories of migrant cleaners in Finland

Cleaning is often the survival employment that migrants can get in their new home country. Ideally, the workplace can be a site for integration and language learning. This article explores how two migrants working as cleaners in Finland narrate their work-related Finnish language learning trajectories. The research is designed by applying nexus analysis (Scollon & Scollon, 2004), which focuses on social action in the intersection of interaction order, participants’ life experiences, and discourses in place. The aim of the study was to assess associations between dimensions of mental skills, psychological readiness and predictors of career longevity among current athletes. Mental skills dimensions were measured with the Ottawa Mental Skills Assessment Tool (OMSAT). The psychological predictors of athletic career longevity were measured with the Athletic Coping Skills Scale-28 (the ACSI-28) producing scores for seven coping skills and with the Competitive State Anxiety Inventory-2 (CSAI-2) which produced scores for confidence in competition. The aim of this study was to find out the potential of the Minoritest to identify the most likely talented gymnasts to join the national team pre-training group in Finland. The study examined the relationships between gymnasts´ (N=215, age 10–13) Minoritest results (2006–2010) and success in competitions after the Minoritests until the end of 2016. The competition results were also compared between the gymnasts who had participated in the test and a random number (N=180) of gymnasts who had not.
