Bariatric surgery is an effective treatment for severe obesity and related comorbidities, such as type II diabetes. Gastric bypass surgery shortens the length of the intestine, possibly leading to altered drug absorption. Metformin, a first-line treatment for type II diabetes, has permeability-dependent drug absorption, which may be sensitive to intestinal anatomic changes during bypass surgery, including Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB). The investment model (2003) has been widely used in romantic relationship studies but rarely in an intercultural context. This study tests the investment model by examining Finnish-Chinese couples’ self-perceptions of commitment level and relationship maintenance behaviors. A qualitative research method with deductive thematic analysis approach is applied. This study finds that Finnish-Chinese couples have relatively high level of commitment. We show that the level of conditional accounting conservatism of foreign markets is significantly and positively associated with decisions to diversify portfolios internationally. This positive association could be either because conditional conservatism per se is attractive to international investors, or because the un-modelled factors that attract foreign investors to a country also cause these countries to adopt conditionally conservative accounting practices. Can absence restore authenticity? The case of Strasbourg Christmas Market

The Strasbourg Christmas Market (MNS) was greatly impacted by the pandemic in 2020. This research delves into the role of absence in the consumption experience through fifteen semi-structured interviews with regular MNS attendees and ethnographic observations of the MNS's iconic locations. Our findings indicate that individuals, affected by two lockdowns and the pandemic's social and economic repercussions, are eager to rediscover the city without overbidding. The absence reinforces the imaginative value of the MNS, imparting renewed significance. Identifying Portfolio-Based Systematic Risk Factors in Equity Markets

Four new prominent asset pricing factors have recently been proposed. We test whether these factors fulfill necessary conditions for qualifying those as risk factors. We show that the investment and betting-against-beta factors fulfill these conditions. However, the profitability and quality factors do not fulfill these conditions pointing towards non-risk-based explanations.

The aim of the current scoping review was to explore the associations between religious and spiritual factors and the health-related outcomes of adolescents with chronic illnesses, as well as to investigate possible mechanisms accounting for these relationships. The aim of this retrospective clinical study was to measure the apical bases and determine their size relationship in Class III malocclusion cases before and after orthodontic treatment, in order to evaluate their significance for the treatment success. Maxillary and mandibular apical bases were measured on study models of 104 Class III cases treated by conventional orthodontics, using a specifically constructed conveyance apparatus, and related to each other as an index.
