El Cadastre imposat a Catalunya després de la derrota austriacista en la guerra de Successió comportà la realització de nombroses operacions de mesura de terres. Aquests treballs foren duts a terme per un petit cos d’agrimensors anomenats geòmetres del reial tribut del Cadastre. Entre 1727 i 1815 n’hem identificat un total de vint-i-dos geòmetres. La creació d’aquesta figura va fer visible una professió fins llavors força desdibuixada a Catalunya. A series of documents helps to define the history of the genesis of an eighteenth-century church façade in Sicily: the church of San Giovanni in Vizzini. The history reveals a constant change of intentions and an empirical approach where, without necessarily proceeding to demolish the already built, the project is subjected to continuous revisions and additions. The process therefore reveals a radical alternative to the idea of an orderly succession between drawing and execution.

The series of earthquakes that struck Italy between the late nineteenth century and the first decade of the twentieth century spurred a lively debate about earthquake-resistant buildings that, through the influence of foreign experience, resulted in specialised literature and competitions that gave rise to a series of interesting patents. The subject of the article is the ‘memory war’ over the memory of the Civil War of 1918 in Vyborg, and the displaced Karelians’ experience in the time of diaspora. Until the wars of 1939–1945 the culture of remembrance of the Civil War was divided in Vyborg and in Finland and many truths of the war were maintained in the Red’s and White’s own groups. The article details how the dichotomous history culture of Civil War memories has slowly transformed into a diversified and critical analysis over the past one hundred years.
