Climate Resilience Pathways of Rural Households. Evidence from Ethiopia
2018
This paper explores the resilience capacity of rural Ethiopian households after the drought shock occurred in 2011. The work develops an original empirical framework able to capture the policy and socio-economic determinants of households’ resilience capacity by making parametric statistical assumption on the resilience distribution. To this end, the analysis employs a two-wave representative panel dataset aligned with detailed weather records while controlling for a large set of household- and community-level characteristics. The analysis shows that the majority of these factors affects significantly resilience capacity only in the group of households affected by the drought shock, suggest…
Switching spatial scale reveals dominance-dependent social foraging tactics in a wild primate
2017
When foraging in a social group, individuals are faced with the choice of sampling their environment directly or exploiting the discoveries of others. The evolutionary dynamics of this trade-off have been explored mathematically through the producer-scrounger game, which has highlighted socially exploitative behaviours as a major potential cost of group living. However, our understanding of the tight interplay that can exist between social dominance and scrounging behaviour is limited. To date, only two theoretical studies have explored this relationship systematically, demonstrating that because scrounging requires joining a competitor at a resource, it should become exclusive to high-rank…

2017
In Apologia Apuleius’s speech shows a rich ‘geography’: private homes, shops, villas and inns are the ingredients of a rhetorical strategy aimed at emphasizing the cultural and ethical distance between accusation and defense. An important role is played by the topical contrast between the country and the city, used to make a strong impact on the public and on the judge and to dismantle and discredit 'a priori' the accusations. In Apologia, therefore, the places are not only the background to the trial but are also conceived as a scenery of the word and as a ‘visual’ instrument to outline the parties involved.
Strategic Cyber Environment Management with Zero Trust and Cyber Counterintelligence
2022
Organisations need to improve their information security practices, given the volume of successful cyberattacks and crimes. To enhance security in an organisation, information security must be considered a business issue, instead of a technical problem. Hence, organisations must change the security protocol from reactive action to proactive operation; must develop information security strategies that support the business; should implement better controls, systems, and services; and must create a process to proactively gather information about the possible threats and adversaries. This study proposes a novel method for combining a zero-trust strategy with cyber counterintelligence to gain th…

Informacja w zarządzaniu strategicznym
2016
The role of Social Media on Sales strategy : A Conceptual Explication in a High-context Culture
2017
People’s behaviours are shaped by their cultural values as much as it also influences the definition of friendship building and sustenance. Low-context cultures as marked with independent lifestyle, loosed family units and communication patterns are often characterized by fewer words. On the other hand, high-context cultures are markedly different. These cultures are characterized with high closed family units, high level of social cohesion and social identity. To achieve effective communication, it is important to understand the differences in the two cultural contexts especially when such communication is directed at the global marketplace. Interestingly, some technological innovations us…
