Identity Status Change Within Personal Style Clusters : A Longitudinal Perspective From Early Adulthood to Midlife

2019

Differences in identity stability and change from age 36 through 42 to 50 were examined between three male and female personal style clusters extracted at age 27. We expected, first, the identity statuses to consistently differ between the clusters and, second, those with the least mature identity to move closer to others during midlife. Differences between the personal style clusters were discovered on all identity statuses across ages. Although significant personal style × age interactions were not detected, some evidence of pace-of-development differences emerged for women: Initial differences in identity maturation between the female groups partially leveled off by midlife. In men, earl…

Familias interculturales: aspectos psicosociales de un fenomeno en construccion - Bicultural couples: from family to community

2012

The research examines the dynamics of bicultural couples in which one partner is autochthonous and the other is of foreign nationality. Two levels of analysis were considered: a macro level studying the identity of place in reference to the general social context and the residential neighbourhood, in particular; the second level refers to the dynamics of the couple and examines the strategies for managing differences between partners and the educational styles adopted in the presence of children. According to the basic assumptions of qualitative research, 42 mixed couples living in Sicily were interviewed. To analyse the contents which emerged from interviews the Atlas.ti software was used.…

The phylogeny of the European high mountain genus Adenostyles (Asteraceae-Senecioneae) reveals that edaphic shifts coincide with dispersal events.

2013

UNLABELLED PREMISE OF THE STUDY Heterogeneity of edaphic conditions plays a large role in driving the diversification of many plant groups. In the Alps and other European high mountains, many closely related calcicole and calcifuge plant taxa exist. To better understand patterns and processes of edaphic differentiation, the phylogeny of the edaphically variable genus Adenostyles was studied. The genus contains three species, of which A. alpina has five subspecies. Each species and subspecies is largely confined to either calcareous or noncalcareous substrates. • METHODS We analyzed the phylogeny of Adenostyles using DNA sequences of nrITS, nrETS, nuclear chalcone synthase, and three plastid…

Two new combinations inAdenostyles (Asteraceae, Senecioneae), a conspectus of the genus and key to its species and subspecies

2012

Abstract Dillenberger M. S. & Kadereit J. W.: Two new combinations in Adenostyles (Asteraceae, Senecioneae), a conspectus of the genus and key to its species and subspecies. — Willdenowia 42: 57-61. June 2012. — Online ISSN 1868-6397; © 2012 BGBM Berlin-Dahlem. Stable URL: http://dx.doi.org/10.3372/wi.42.42105 Based on a molecular phylogeny (using ITS, ETS and the rpl32-trnL, psbA-trnH and ndhF-rpl32 plastid spacer sequences) of all species and subspecies of the European genus Adenostyles currently recognised, and supported by the morphology of the leaf margin, we transfer two subspecies of A. alliariae to A. alpina and provide the new combinations A. alpina subsp. macrocephala and A. alpin…

Parenting Styles and Internet Use

2017

The Internet has become the most popular way for young people to communicate with one another. Recent data indicate that 95% of students have Internet access. This study examined the links between Internet use and the parenting styles that shape parent-child interactions. Empirical analysis showed that Internet use accounts for the majority of adolescents' leisure time. The neglecting parenting style has the strongest relationship with addictive Internet use by adolescent girls and boys. For boys, addictive Internet use is also related to a combination of different parenting styles resulting from inconsistencies and contradictions between parents.

The Naturist Constellation in Europe

2013

The present study introduces some reflections on possible approaches to the phenomenon of naturism. Our investigation starts from the main consideration that this phenomenon is now transiting from its subcultural and countercultural origin—that depended on the history of Western countries—to a new stage of consumption and legalization.

The moderating effect of attachment styles on the relationships between maltreatment experiences and internalizing and externalizing problems among a…

2020

Multiple studies have documented the relationship between child maltreatment and internalizing and externalizing problems. Evidence suggests that the link between child maltreatment and these psychopathological outcomes may be moderated by various factors. Attachment styles may be one such moderating factor in this relationship. This study seeks to explore whether different attachment style profiles are associated with different forms of maltreatment as well as internalizing and externalizing symptoms, and whether attachment styles may moderate the link between different forms of maltreatment and internalizing and externalizing problems. For this purpose, 387 students from Italian public hi…

The joint evolution of learning and dispersal maintains intraspecific diversity in metapopulations

2021

The evolution of dispersal tendencies and of cognitive abilities have both been intensely studied. Yet little attention has been given to the question of how these two aspects may relate to each other, as a result of their joint evolution. On the one hand, learning abilities may help dispersers to cope with their new habitat. On the other hand, dispersal may sometimes reduce the need for learning, because local environments may differ in how much there is to learn. To get a better understanding of this relationship, we built an individual‐based simulation in which both learning speed and dispersal tendency were free to evolve. We found that both positive and negative correlations could evol…

2019

Abstract Objectives To evaluate emotions and opinions of Italian adolescents aged 13-18 years old about different anti-tobacco spots delivered by the mass media campaigns over the world. Methods A multicenter cross-sectional study was conducted. Italian students from different regions were enrolled. A video that collected 7 anti-tobacco spots from all over the world.
