Molecular self-assembly on surfaces is dictated by the delicate balance between intermolecular and molecule-surface interactions. Abstract The pharmacokinetics of antipsychotic drugs has become an integral part in understanding their pharmacodynamic activity and clinical effects. In addition to metabolism aspects, carrier-mediated transport, particularly secretion by ABC transporters, has been discussed as potentially relevant for this group of therapeutics. Many methods are available to measure the xylanase activity of enzymatic preparation. Most of method uses different substrates from those that will be hydrolyzed in various applications in food industry. This fact will lead to a deformed image about how evaluated xylanases will really act in a specific application. The aim of this study is to evaluate the activity of seven xylanase preparation with two method, a colorimetric method with birch insoluble xylan as substrate and a viscometric method with wheat soluble arabinoxylan as substrate.

Thermally Tunable Surface Acoustic Wave Cavities

We experimentally demonstrate the dynamical tuning of the acoustic field in a surface acoustic wave (SAW) cavity defined by a periodic arrangement of metal stripes on LiNbO3 substrate. Applying a dc voltage to the ends of the metal grid results in a temperature rise due to resistive heating that changes the frequency response of the device up to 0.3%, which can be used to control the acoustic transmission through the structure. The timescale of the switching is demonstrated to be of about 200 ms. Enniatins (ENs) are secondary fungal metabolites with hexadepsipeptidic chemical structure and they possess a number of potent biological activities that can contaminate several kind of food and foodstuffs increasing the exposure risk for consumers. ENs are produced by several Fusariun strains including Fusarium subglutinans, Fusarium proliferatum and Fusarium tricinctum. Binding and/or hydrolysis of purine‐based nucleotides is not required for IM30 ring formation

IM30, the inner membrane-associated protein of 30 kDa, is conserved in cyanobacteria and chloroplasts. Although its exact physiological function is still mysterious, IM30 is clearly essential for thylakoid membrane biogenesis and/or dynamics. Recently, a cryptic IM30 GTPase activity has been reported, albeit thus far no physiological function has been attributed to this. Synthesis of Silver Gallium Selenide (AgGaSe2) Nanotubes and Nanowires by Template-Based Electrodeposition

In this work, a systematic investigation of the different parameters that control the electrodeposition processes was carried out at the aim to synthetizing AgGaSe₂ nanostructures. We found that pH is a key parameter to control both the morphology and composition of the nanostructures. Low pH favours mainly the formation of Ag2Se nanotubes with a scarce mechanical stability, while multi-phase nanowires well anchored to the substrate were obtained at higher pH. We also found that it was necessary to increase dramatically the concentration of the gallium precursor into the deposition bath in order to obtain AgGaSe₂ owing to lower redox potential of the Ga3+/Ga couple than Ag2+/Ag and Se4+/Se.…
