Renal transplantation by automatic anastomotic device in a porcine model

Automatic vascular staplers for vascular anastomoses in kidney transplantation may dramatically reduce the operative time and, in particular, warm ischemia time, thus increasing the outcome of transplantation. Ten pigs underwent kidney auto-transplantation by automatic anastomotic device. Kidneys were collected by laparotomy with selective ligations at the renal hilum and perfused with cold storage solution. To overcome the shortage in length of renal hilum, a tract of the internal jugular vein was harvested to increase the length of the vessels. However, standard ventriculostomy at the floor of the third ventricle might not be feasible under certain conditions. Here, the authors report in detail on their initial experience with an alternative option of endoscopic ventriculostomy through the lamina terminalis via a transventricular route. Age and origin of granitic rocks of the eastern Vardar Zone, Greece: new constraints on the evolution of the Internal Hellenides

The Vardar Zone is an integral part of the Internal Hellenides and has long been regarded as an ophiolite-decorated suture zone separating two distinct continental blocks, namely the Pelagonian Zone to the west and the Serbo-Macedonian Massif to the east. Several bodies of granites, gneisses and volcanic rocks are associated with the ophiolitic rocks and can provide additional constraints on the evolution of the suture. Single-zircon and monazite dating of felsic rocks yields accurate ages for the processes of accretion of the suture. In plants, long distance transport of sugars from photosynthetic source leaves to sink organs comprises different crucial steps depending on the species and organ types. Sucrose, the main carbohydrate for long distance transport is synthesized in the mesophyll and then loaded into the phloem. After long distance transport through the phloem vessels, sucrose is finally unloaded towards sink organs. Tässä pro gradu -tutkielmassa tarkastellaan, miten evakkous, siirtokarjalaisuus ja asutustilallisuus vaikuttivat Laatokan Karjalasta Pohjois-Savoon evakuoidun Mureen perheen elämäntapaan. Kesällä 1944 Mureen perhe, johon kuuluivat leskiäiti ja viisi aikuista lasta, joutui evakkoon Salmin Kirkkojoelta Lapinlahden Alapitkälle. Kesällä 1947 Yrjö Mure kirjoitti hallintasopimuksen asuntoviljelystilasta Lapinlahden Alapitkältä, ja seuraavana vuonna tilalle valmistui väliaikainen asunto. Sitä ennen Mureet olivat asuneet kolmessa eri vuokra-asunnossa, ja evakkovuosien voi luonnehtia muodostaneen konfliktien kierteen. Tutkimuksessa selvitettiin ammatillisen koulutuksen opiskelijoiden (hyvinvointi-, hius- ja kauneusala) kriittistä nettilukutaitoa. Lisäksi tarkasteltiin aikaisemman tiedon, tekstien lukemisjärjestyksen ja perustelutaitojen yhteyttä siihen, kuinka hyvin opiskelijat osasivat arvioida luotettavia (varmentaminen) ja epäluotettavia (kyseenalaistaminen) nettitekstejä sekä erottaa luotettavat tekstit epäluotettavista. Tutkimukseen osallistui 82 opiskelijaa, joista valtaosa oli 15–18-vuotiaita. Opiskelijat lukivat ja arvioivat kaksi luotettavaa ja kaksi epäluotettavaa tekstiä sokerin vaikutuksista.
