Mandrel-less fabrication of biomimetic electrospun microfiber wires for tissue engineering applications

This study introduces a novel mandrel-less electrodeposition method and a novel electrode prototypes useful for tissue engineering applications. More specifically, in this study a novel fabrication protocol to electrospun fibers-based chords, with length spanning from 2 cm to virtually no limitations on longitudinal length, is presented. For the first part of this study, Poly(ester urethane) urea (PEUU) was used to fabricate, by electrodeposition technique, continuous microfiber wires with controlled micro-architecture and tunable mechanics. Abstract In this piece, the authors question whether critical language research, in its complex collection of researcher choices, is possible beyond the discursive imaginary of critical academic scholarship. In other words, how do (allegedly) anticolonial efforts re-orient towards contribution to the imperial record? We present three vignettes, through which we grapple with the notion that researcher choice exists within the solipsism of academia. In doing so, we frame research and scholarship as a collection of choices, which we believe are better understood as a collection of fraught dilemmas. Measurement of Open Access as an Infrastructural Challenge : The Case of Finland

Finland has set numeric goals for the development of open access. However, at the moment, no system is available by which this development could be monitored. Poor quality in the metadata records in universities’ research information databases prevents metadata-based analysis of open access publishing progress. This paper shows how the quality problems of Finnish publication data can be resolved through centralizing the services and processes of metadata creation and by improving the interoperability of systems involved in the processes. Studying the double-frequency heating mode in ECRIS plasma using Kα diagnostics

Despite the success of double-heating frequency in enhancing high charge state production, the underlying physics remains poorly understood. By combining three different diagnostic techniques i.e. Kα emission, optical emission and the extracted charge state distribution, it is now possible to assess the proposed explanations for the effectiveness of double-frequency heating against the experimental results. These results seem to indicate that the increase of plasma density accounts largely for the favorable behavior of this operation mode compared to single-frequency mode. peerReviewed

Digitalisaatio on alentanut tutkimustiedon etsimiskustannuksia merkittävästi ja mahdollistanut tutkimustiedon tehokkaamman leviämisen. Tästä huolimatta tutkijoiden omat julkaisukäytäntöihin liittyvät valinnat vaikuttavat edelleen tutkimusjulkaisujen löydettävyyteen Internetissä. Tämä katsaus valottaa Suomen yliopistojen taloustieteen professorien tutkimusten julkaisukäytäntöjä ja avoimuutta verkossa.
