Tutkielman tarkoituksena on selvittää eri alojen mikro- ja pienyritysten ajatuksia vastuullisesta liiketoiminnasta ja yhteiskuntavastuusta. Tutkimuskysymyksiä on yksi: Millaisia tekoja ja asioita yritykset pitävät omassa liiketoiminnassaan yhteiskuntavastuullisina? Käsitteellisen viitekehyksen muodostavat pääasiassa käsitteet vastuullinen liiketoiminta ja yhteiskuntavastuu. Myös arvot, johtaja- ja sidosryhmä-käsitteet suhteessa pääkäsitteisiin tukevat viitekehyksen rakentumista. Corporate responsibility (CR) is becoming a key issue in the food chain. In order to make sense of this phenomenon, a seminal aper by Maloni and Brown (2006) called for further empirical investigation on the criteria of responsibility in the food supply chain. Yritysvastuuviestinnällä viestitään yrityksen yritysvastuusta sidosryhmille. Suomalaiset perheyritykset ovat varovaisia viestiessään omasta yritysvastuustaan. Perheyrityksissä mielletään vastuullisen toiminnan olevan vastuullisten tekojen tekemistä, mikä on luontaista perheyrityksille. Perheyritykset eivät siten tunnista yritysvastuuviestintään sisältyvää kilpailuetumahdollisuutta. Teoreettinen viitekehys rakentuu sidosryhmäteorian avulla. The aim of this study was to investigate the attitudes of trade union representatives toward companies’ CSR practices. The research participants were representatives of altogether nine Finnish trade unions and one Finnish solidarity centre representing the trade unions. The data had been collected as part of a bigger research project concerning trade unions and CSR but this study is an independent research using the same data. Tutkielman tarkoituksena oli selvittää, mitä GRI G3 Mining and Metals - yhteiskuntavastuumittaristoon liittyvää tietoa kohdeyrityksessä jo kerätään ja kuka sitä kerää. Kohdeyrityksenä toimi suuri kierrätysalan yritys. Metodologinen lähestymistapa on laadullinen, case-metodia käyttävä konstruktiivinen tutkimus, joka rajattiin koskemaan kohdeyrityksen Suomen ja Ruotsin maaorganisaatioita. Tutkimusta varten kohdeyrityksestä valittiin yhdeksän avaintiedonantajaa, joiden kanssa järjestettiin kahdeksan eri neuvottelutilaisuutta.
