Recent developments and results of the LPSC PHOENIX type ECR charge breeder

Abstract Four models of the PHOENIX ECR charge breeder have been manufactured for ISOL application. Two are currently under operation at TRIUMF (ISAC) and GANIL (SPIRAL 1) while the SPES one is being installed on the facility. The last model is set on the LPSC 1+N+ test bench where a R&D program is ongoing to improve its performances. The last modifications consisted in improving the beam line vacuum and the alignment. Commissioning experiments showed an improvement of the charge breeder performances for all the tested species. The global CB efficiency is close to 100% for Cs when correcting the measurements with the beam transmission. Na and K efficiencies have increased significantly …
Time cycles of homicide in the early modern Nordic area

An extensive body of criminological research has shown that criminaland violent behaviour manifests time patterns in terms of daily,weekly and annual cycles. This is consistent with criminologicalroutine activities theory. Can we generalize these patterns to historicalperiods? In this article, we draw on a recently created uniquedataset, covering the years 1608–1699 in three Nordic regions, toexplore time cycles of offending in the early modern period.Examining daily, weekly and annual cycles, we find that lethalviolence manifested strong time patterns in the early modernperiod. Masteroppgave Sosiologi og sosialt arbeid ME522 - Universitetet i Agder 2017 Formålet med denne oppgaven er å få en forståelse for det emosjonelle arbeidet som frontlinjeansatte på nav utøver. Fokuset er å belyse både hvordan de opplever og hvordan de håndterer ulike situasjoner de kommer opp i. Oppgaven er basert på intervjuer og observasjoner av totalt 13 ansatte på et lokalt nav-kontor som arbeider tett med brukere innenfor ulike avdelinger. Med utgangspunkt i datamaterialet, analyseres innholdet først før det blir drøftet opp mot teori. The unsettling, humiliating, and often threatening experience of feeling oneself ‘invisible’ before the gazes of other people in one’s social world has obvious potential as a theme for collaborative efforts between social theorists and phenomenologists. This chapter proposes one way of approaching such an engagement, drawing in particular upon three authors who offer detailed analyses of social visibility and its potential pathologies: Axel Honneth, Frantz Fanon, and Edmund Husserl. Humans frequently perform extravagant and seemingly costly behaviors, such as widely sharing hunted resources, erecting conspicuous monumental structures, and performing dramatic acts of religious devotion. Evolutionary anthropologists and archeologists have used signaling theory to explain the function of such displays, drawing inspiration from behavioral ecology, economics, and the social sciences. The pervasiveness of technical systems in our lives calls for a broad understanding of the interaction between humans and technology. Affinity for technology interaction (ATI) scale measures the tendency of a person to actively engage or to avoid interaction with technological systems, including both software and physical devices. This research presents a psychometric analysis of a Finnish version of the ATI scale. The data consisted of 796 responses of students in a Finnish university. The data were analyzed utilizing factor analysis and both nonparametric and parametric item response theory.
