Demographic and sociological changes in the last 50 years have forced Western societies to create services to attend to elderly people in their homes, where they can live within familiar environments. Telecare involves a device plugged into a telephonic network that provides access to teams of professionals who can attend to the needs of the elderly in their homes. Embodied embedded cognition (EEC) has gained support in cognitive science as well as in human–computer interaction (HCI). EEC can be characterized both by its action-centeredness as well as its roots in phenomenology. The phenomenological aspects of EEC could be seen as support for trends in design emphasizing the user experience. Meanwhile, usability issues often are still approached using traditional methods based on cognitivist assumptions. Pro Gradu tutkimus käsittelee tietojärjestelmän käyttöönottoprosessia case yrityksen Foster Wheeler Energia Oy:n Engineering osastolla. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena on löytää kahden käyttöönottoprosessin sekä kirjallisuuskatsauksen pohjalta tietojärjestelmän käyttöönottoprosessin Best Practice suositukset. Kohteena oleva tietojärjestelmä on case yrityksessä tarkoitus jalkauttaa neljään eri yksikköön maailmanlaajuisesti. Näkövammaisille apuvälineet ovat elämää helpottavia, hyödyllisiä, pakollisia, kiusallisiakin mutta välttämättömiä. Ne tarjoavat mahdollisuuden itsenäiseen elämään, harrastamiseen ja työskentelyyn ihmisille, joille se ei ilman olisi mah-dollista. Tutkimuksessa halusin selvittää, millä tasolla näkövammaisten apuvälineiden käytettävyys on tällä hetkellä ja mitä parannettavaa siinä olisi tulevaisuudessa. Tarkoitus oli myös selvittää, mitä apuvälineitä näkövammaiset oikeasti käyttävät. Erityishuomiota tutkimuksessa saivat liikkumisen apuvälineet.
