The aim of this study was to determine the gender differences between students' actual and perceived water abilities, how respondents assess risk in the described situations, and whether there are gender differences for those situations. The cross-sectional study was conducted on 150 students aged 19–20 years (males, n = 88; females, n = 62) from the faculty of sport and physical education, University of Novi Sad. Despite awareness of campaigns such as ‘Turn Around, Don’t Drown’ and the Australian state of Queensland’s ‘If It’s Flooded, Forget It’, people continue to drive through floodwaters, causing loss of life, risk to rescuers, and damage to vehicles. In the contexts where people with intellectual disability work, there are factors that determine their job satisfaction. The objective of this study was to test the adequacy of the central assumptions of the Job Demands–Resources (JD-R) theory in workers with intellectual disability employed in different work alternatives. Bezpieczeństwo socjalne jednostki stanowi jedną z kluczowych kategorii polityki społecznej. Jawi się ono jako wolność od zagrożeń powodujących brak lub niedostatek środków niezbędnych do zaspokojenia podstawowych potrzeb życiowych jednostki. Zapewnienie bezpieczeństwa socjalnego społeczeństwa i jego członków stanowi jedno z podstawowych zadań państwa. W tym zakresie uwidacznia się rola zabezpieczenia społecznego, zwłaszcza w kontekście koncepcji państwa opiekuńczego i państwa gwarantującego. W kontekście normatywnym kluczowe znaczenie ma konstytucyjne prawo do zabezpieczenia społecznego. Stanowi bowiem podstawę gwarancji podjęcia przez państwo działań zapewniających bezpieczeństwo socjalne.
