2018

Master's thesis Multimedia and Educational Technology MM500 - University of Agder 2018 Games are a popular form of entertainment that can keep individuals motivated and engaged for hours at a time. Our motivations to sink multiple hours into playing games have been studied by researchers, instructional designers, and game designers alike, with the goal of understanding and highlighting the elements that have positive or negative effects on the players. Games have also been recognised as a potential teaching and learning tool due to their capability to integrate content and elements that nurture intrinsic motivation, learner engagement, and facilitate different approaches to learning. Increasing Motivation and Engagement in Learning Safe Humane Hunting Skills Through VR and Digital Games

2020

Master's thesis in Multimedia and educational technology (MM500) This research discusses to what degree a digital learning game can affect motivation, engagement and participation in learning humane and safe hunting, and how a VR version compares to a screen-based version. Additionally, it discusses whether a digital learning game about humane and safe hunting can make learners more confident when taking the ”Jegerprøve” exam and dealing with real-life hunting situations. A game working on both computers and VR equipment was developed using the human-centred design process. The game went through two iterations, and usability testing was conducted on both of them. The results of the testing …

"De er jo her fysisk.

Copyright Laws and Digital Piracy in Music Industries : The Relevance of Traditional Copyright Laws in the Digital Age and How Music Industries shoul…

2020

Master's thesis in Music management (MU501) The copyright laws formed in the publishing age in the eighteenth century have come a long way to the twenty-first century of the modern digital age. From the Statute of Anne in 1710 to Music Modernization Act in the U.S. and Article 17 in the European Union in 2018, several conventions held up until this date, but there are still issues or even more issues emerging in the music industries. On the other hand, digital technologies have been rapidly growing with the advent and access of the internet, which has dramatically reformed traditional music business models. Even after the successful shut down of Napster by RIAA, the music industries are con…

The Underrepresentation of Female Personalities in EDM : A Closer Look into the “Boys Only”-Genre

2017

Master's thesis Music Management MU501 - University of Agder 2017 EDM, or Electronic Dance Music for short, has become a big and lucrative genre. The once nerdy and uncool phenomenon has become quite the profitable business. Superstars along the lines of Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Avicii, and Tiësto have become the rock stars of today, and for many, the role models for tomorrow. This is though not the case for females. The British magazine DJ Mag has an annual contest, where listeners and fans of EDM can vote for their favorite DJs. In 2016, the top 100-list only featured three women; Australian twin duo NERVO and Ukrainian hardcore DJ Miss K8. Nor is it easy to find female DJs and acts o…
