2021
Abstract Purpose A short adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) measure is needed with non-intrusive items that include subjective evaluations of childhood. We validated a short Difficult Childhood Questionnaire (DCQ) that assesses ACEs using personal perceptions of events. Methods The study relied on 2019 data from a representative survey (N = 28,047) in Norway. We examined the DCQ’s factor structure, internal consistency, and discriminant validity in a multi-group confirmatory factor analysis. As a group variable, we used whether the respondent had the ACE of parental alcohol use disorder (adult children of alcoholics; ACOA). To assess the DCQ’s convergent validity, we used latent regressio…

2019
Masteroppgave religion REL500 - Universitetet i Agder 2019 This master thesis involves what justifications and reflections young Muslim girls have for using the hijab or not. Through depth-interviews of 15 youths, aged between 13 and 19 at different schools in two regions in Norway who did and did not wear the hijab, this thesis closely examines their thoughts regarding the Islamic headscarf. Through my work with responses from the informants, a pattern centering round whether they viewed wearing the hijab as a religious injunction or as a free choice rapidly emerged. Exactly this was the foundation for why parts of the title contain the question «Injunction or free choice?”. As a basis for…

2020

2022
This article presents the results of an in-depth analysis of ten texts written by ten-year-old pupils during a religious education (RE) lesson about Jesus’ parables. The texts from the pupils’ notebooks were analysed with passages from the RE textbook and the teacher’s handbook to explore how these books influenced the pupils’ texts. The main theoretical framework guiding our analysis was conceptual blending theory, which enabled us to outline how the pupils had interrelated and integrated information from different sources during their reading, understanding, and interpretation of Jesus’ parable about the lost/retrieved sheep (Luke 15:4–7). We found substantial similarities between the pup…
