A new approach to ticagrelor-based de-escalation of antiplatelet therapy after acute coronary syndrome. A rationale for a randomized, double-blind, p…

2021

The risk of ischemic events gradually decreases after acute coronary syndrome (ACS), reaching a stable level after 1 month, while the risk of bleeding remains steady during the whole period of dual antiplatelet treatment (DAPT). Several de-escalation strategies of antiplatelet treatment aiming to enhance safety of DAPT without depriving it of its efficacy have been evaluated so far. We hypothesized that reduction of the ticagrelor maintenance dose 1 month after ACS and its continuation until 12 months after ACS may improve adherence to antiplatelet treatment due to better tolerability compared with the standard dose of ticagrelor. Moreover, improved safety of treatment and preserved anti-is…

Desarrollo y validación del Cuestionario de Personalidad Vocacio-nal Adaptativa: un cuestionario para analizar la conducta vocacional de estudiantes …

2013

This study presents a personality evaluation instrument adapted to the vocational setting: the Adaptive Vocational Personality Questionnaire (AVPQ). The questionnaire was developed and tested in a sample of 2160 university students in the final years of their degree programs. The purpose of the study is to validate the questionnaire, providing evidence about its internal structure and its usefulness for predicting scores on a criterion scale. A confirmatory factor analysis combined with a cross-validation design was used: the exploratory sample (n = 879) helped to identify the model with the factorial structure that best fit the relations among the items. As expected, this model had two rel…

A Phase I dose-escalation study of third-line regorafenib with trifluridine/tipiracil in metastatic colorectal cancer

2021

Aim: To determine a recommended Phase II dose of the oral fluoropyrimidine trifluridine/tipiracil (FTD/TPI) combined with the multi-kinase inhibitor regorafenib (REG) in refractory metastatic colorectal cancer patients. Materials & methods: A conventional 3 + 3 dose finding design was used. FTD/TPI was administered on days 1–5 and 8–12 of a 28-day cycle, REG on days 2–22. Two dose levels were used: FTD/TPI 25 mg/m2 b.i.d. + REG 120 mg/d, then escalated to FTD/TPI 35 mg/m2 b.i.d. + REG 120 mg/d. Results: In total, 12 patients were treated at two dose levels. Three dose-limiting toxicities were observed; all were grade 3 hypertension causally attributed to REG. Recommended Phase II dose …

A phase I dose-escalation study of the immunocytokine EMD 521873 (Selectikine) in patients with advanced solid tumours.

2012

Abstract Background EMD 521873 (Selectikine), an immunocytokine comprising a DNA-targeting antibody, aimed at tumour necrosis, fused with a genetically modified interleukin-2 (IL-2) moiety, was investigated in this first-in-human phase I study. Methods Patients had metastatic or locally advanced solid tumours failing previous standard therapy. Selectikine was administered as a 1-hour intravenous infusion on 3 consecutive days, every 3weeks. A subgroup of patients also received 300mg/m 2 cyclophosphamide on day 1 of each cycle. Escalating doses of Selectikine were investigated with the primary objective of determining the maximum tolerated dose (MTD). Results Thirty-nine patients were treate…

Dalīto sistēmu izstrāde izmantojot Akka ietvaru

2015

Bakalaura darbā tiek pētīta dalīto sistēmu izstrāde izmantojot Akka ietvaru un Scala programmēšanas valodu. Tiek apkopota informācija par dalīto sistēmu izstrādes īpašībām, esošajiem risinājumiem un pētīts kā Akka ietvara piedāvātās iespējas palīdz šādu sistēmu izstrādē. Darba gaitā tiek izveidoti vienkārši piemēri, kas atspoguļo dažādu Akka modļu funkcionalitāti, un izveidota piemēra sistēma, kurā ieviesta aprakstītā funkcionalitāte.

On stability issues for IMEX schemes applied to 1D scalar hyperbolic equations with stiff reaction terms

2011

The application of a Method of Lines to a hyperbolic PDE with source terms gives rise to a system of ODEs containing terms that may have very different stiffness properties. In this case, Implicit-Explicit Runge-Kutta (IMEX-RK) schemes are particularly useful as high order time integrators because they allow an explicit handling of the convective terms, which can be discretized using the highly developed shock capturing technology, together with an implicit treatment of the source terms, necessary for stability reasons. Motivated by the structure of the source term in a model problem introduced by LeVeque and Yee in [J. Comput. Phys. 86 (1990)], in this paper we study the preservation of ce…

Introduction to General Duality Theory for Multi-Objective Optimization

1992

This is intended as a comprehensive introduction to the duality theory for vector optimization recently developed by C. Malivert and the present author [3]. It refers to arbitrarily given classes of mappings (dual elements) and extends the general duality theory proposed for scalar optimization by E. Balder, S. Kurcyusz and the present author [1] and P. Lindberg.

Physical model, theoretical aspects and applications of the flight of a ball in the atmosphere. Part III: Theory in the case of vertical angular freq…

1995

If a ball is viewed as a rigid body, its flight in the atmosphere can be described by six ordinary differential equations, which has been derived in the first part of this paper. In this following third part, some further theoretical aspects in the case of vertical angular frequency will be pointed out using an unknown transformation of the original independent variable, i.e. the time, as indicated in Part II. Last, but not least, the general case of angular frequency is to be treated. A rough qualitative discussion of the solutions is given as well as—if the equations are viewed as a three-dimensional dynamical system—the unique stable equilibrium, which depends on the spin. This equilibri…

Generalized hypergeometric functions and the evaluation of scalar one-loop integrals in Feynman diagrams

2000

Present and future high-precision tests of the Standard Model and beyond for the fundamental constituents and interactions in Nature are demanding complex perturbative calculations involving multi-leg and multi-loop Feynman diagrams. Currently, large effort is devoted to the search for closed expressions of loop integrals, written whenever possible in terms of known - often hypergeometric-type - functions. In this work, the scalar three-point function is re-evaluated by means of generalized hypergeometric functions of two variables. Finally, use is made of the connection between such Appell functions and dilogarithms coming from a previous investigation, to recover well-known results.

Nonradial normalized solutions for nonlinear scalar field equations

2018

We study the following nonlinear scalar field equation $$ -\Delta u=f(u)-\mu u, \quad u \in H^1(\mathbb{R}^N) \quad \text{with} \quad \|u\|^2_{L^2(\mathbb{R}^N)}=m. $$ Here $f\in C(\mathbb{R},\mathbb{R})$, $m>0$ is a given constant and $\mu\in\mathbb{R}$ is a Lagrange multiplier. In a mass subcritical case but under general assumptions on the nonlinearity $f$, we show the existence of one nonradial solution for any $N\geq4$, and obtain multiple (sometimes infinitely many) nonradial solutions when $N=4$ or $N\geq6$. In particular, all these solutions are sign-changing.
