Measuring Adolescent Influence Tactics With Parents in Family Vacation Decisions: A Comparable Scale Across 19 Societies
2019
Exhibiting evidence of the applicability of scales developed in one society to other societies is a critical issue in establishing the general models of consumer behavior. This study investigates the measurement model of adolescent influence tactics with their parents in family vacation decision making in 19 societies. By conducting a series of exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, adolescent influence behavior emerges in a refined and validated model of four subscales indicating its construct equivalence across societies. Procrustes rotation assessing the similarity of each society’s factor structure reveals a substantial degree of metric equivalence. Moreover, the original measur…
The mapping properties of the radiosity operator along an edge
2002
In this article we study the radiosity operator along an edge between two adjacent half-planes. First we show that the radiosity operator is invertible in a whole scale of anisotropic Sobolev spaces. In the absence of any shadows we are able to derive regularity properties of the solution, which depend only on the angle between the half-planes, the reflectivity coefficients and the right-hand side. This work can be considered as a supplement to the article of Rathsfeld (Mathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences 1999; 22: 217–241). Copyright © 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
Bed scouring downstream of hydraulic structures under steady flow conditions: Experimental analysis of space and time scales and implications for mat…
2011
Abstract Sediment transport and bed deformation in alluvial rivers are space and time dependent. The knowledge of the space and time scales can be helpful for the definition of predictive procedures of an alluvial reach response to changing boundary conditions. In this work, attention is paid to scouring process occurring downstream of the rigid basement of a hydraulic structure. The analysis is focused on transient bed profiles which are determined, under steady flow conditions, by a decrease of the upstream sediment transport rate. In particular, the paper is aimed at improving understanding of the space and time scales required by the alluvial system to reach the equilibrium conditions. …
On the behavior of a three-dimensional fractional viscoelastic constitutive model
2016
In this paper a three-dimensional isotropic fractional viscoelastic model is examined. It is shown that if different time scales for the volumetric and deviatoric components are assumed, the Poisson ratio is time varying function; in particular viscoelastic Poisson ratio may be obtained both increasing and decreasing with time. Moreover, it is shown that, from a theoretical point of view, one-dimensional fractional constitutive laws for normal stress and strain components are not correct to fit uniaxial experimental test, unless the time scale of deviatoric and volumetric are equal. Finally, the model is proved to satisfy correspondence principles also for the viscoelastic Poisson’s ratio a…
Superparameterised cloud effects in the EMAC general circulation model (v2.50) – influences of model configuration
2020
A new module has been implemented in the fifth generation of the ECMWF/Hamburg (ECHAM5)/Modular Earth Submodel System (MESSy) Atmospheric Chemistry (EMAC) model that simulates cloud-related processes on a much smaller grid. This so-called superparameterisation acts as a replacement for the convection parameterisation and large-scale cloud scheme. The concept of embedding a cloud-resolving model (CRM) inside of each grid box of a general circulation model leads to an explicit representation of cloud dynamics. The new model component is evaluated against observations and the conventional usage of EMAC using a convection parameterisation. In particular, effects of applying different configurat…
Mass and energy flux estimates at different spatial resolutions in a heterogeneous area through a distributed energy-water balance model and remote s…
2012
Computed ET with the FEST-EWB model at high spatial resolution 10 m showed for the three days of analysis a mean relative error of 9.4% compared to AHS data, whereas for land surface temperature comparison a relative error of 1.6% was found. Then, LSTs from AHS and FEST-EWB were aggregated at decreasing spatial resolutions 50, 150, 300, 400, 500, 600, 750, and 1000 m, showing that the thermodynamic variability tends to disappear with a lower number of classes in the histograms and with a decrease of the coefficient of variation CV and of standard deviation values. At each scale, a similar behaviour was reported between each pair of images, with the values of standard deviation starting, res…
El Modelo de Asimilación como un Modelo Integrador sobre el Cambio Terapéutico
2017

Structural invariance and stability of sense of coherence: A longitudinal analysis of two groups with different employment experiences
2005
This 5-year follow-up study investigated the structure and the factorial invariance of the 13-item sense of coherence (SOC) scale (Antonovsky, 1987a) in two employment groups (unemployment/lay-off experiences vs. continuous full-time employment) and across two measurement times. In addition, the stability of SOC between these two employment groups was compared. The postal questionnaire data was collected twice, in 1992 and in 1997. The participants were Finnish technical designers (N=352) aged between 25 and 40 years in 1992. A total of 51% of the investigated participants had been employed full-time during the 5-year follow-up period and 49% had been unemployed and/or laid off for a total …
Short Sexual Well-Being Scale – a cross-sectional validation among transgender and cisgender people
2020
BackgroundSexual well-being is often mistakenly operationalized simply as sexual satisfaction. The concept of sexual well-being has been often used as an umbrella term for positive aspects of sexuality, apart from its negative spheres. A new concept of sexual well-being was proposed in line with the World Health Organization (WHO) definition of sexual health. The definition tried to enrich the concept of sexual well-being, but it did not solve the problem of its operationalization. The aim of this study was to verify the psychometric properties of the new scale measuring the concept of sexual well-being.Participants and procedureTwo separate studies were conducted for the psychometric valid…
