Abstract ZnO–SnO 2 nanocomposites were synthesized by a facile sol–gel synthesis route and characterized through X-ray diffraction, BET specific surface area analysis, UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, photoluminescence spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy. The photocatalytic activity of the samples was tested using the degradation of 4-nitrophenol under UV light as model reaction. Abstract Effect of peracetylated β-cyclodextrin on the solubility of diphenyl(4-phenylphenyl)phosphine in supercritical carbon dioxide medium has been investigated. As shown by gravimetric measurements, the presence of cyclodextrin (CD) (1 equivalent) allows to increase the solubility of phosphine (P) in supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO 2 ) (40 °C, 35.2 MPa, nominal system density 0.89 g/mL). Mixed WO3/WS2 powders were prepared by oxidation of WS2. The physical properties of the samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy; they were strongly dependent upon the time and temperature of oxidation. The chemical state and the elemental distribution of the sample surface were investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The photocatalytic results have showed that the aqueous suspensions of the mixed WO3/WS2 systems have significantly higher activities than pure WS2 and WO3 for the photodegradation of phenol. Image correlation methods are widely used in experimental mechanics to obtain displacement field measurements. Currently, these methods are applied using digital images of the initial and deformed surfaces sprayed with black or white paint. Speckle patterns are then captured and the correlation is performed with a high degree of accuracy to an order of 0.01 pixels. In 3D, however, stereo-correlation leads to a lower degree of accuracy. We report the assembly of gold nanoclusters by the nonthiolate ligand diglyme into discrete and dynamic assemblies. To understand this surprising phenomenon, the assembly of Au20(SC2H4Ph)15-diglyme into Au20(SC2H4Ph)15-diglyme-Au20(SC2H4Ph)15 is explored in detail. The assembly is examined by high-angle annular dark field scanning transmission electron microscopy, size exclusion chromatography, mass spectrometry, IR spectroscopy, and calorimetry. We establish a dissociation constant for dimer to monomer conversion of 20.4 μM. In die Ruckenmuskulatur von 22 mannlichen, ausgewachsenen Wistar-Ratten wurde ein Drainagesystem eingelegt und die Wirkung des Unterdruckes auf die Muskulatur analysiert. Nach kurzester Liegezeit waren die Drainagesysteme durch ein Koagulat verschlossen. Im Unterschied zu den Kontrolltieren, bei denen sich lediglich Fibrin-Gerinnsel und Erythrozyten-Konglomerationen fanden, sahen wir im Rasterelektronenmikroskop bei den mit Unterdruck behandelten Tieren intakte Muskeln im Lumen der Drainage. New binary solid dispersion of indomethacin with surfactant polymer: From physical characterization to in vitro dissolution enhancement

This article investigated preparation of solid dispersions containing a poor water-soluble drug, indomethacin (IND), and a new surfactant polymer, polyoxyethylene 32 distearate (POED). Solid dispersions were prepared by the melting method and characterized by DSC, hot-stage microscopy (HSM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). DSC and HSM analyses performed on IND/POED physical mixtures indicated that IND could dissolve in liquid POED. The materials showed complete miscibility at liquid state. We demonstrated directional random laser emission from a dye-doped polymer film in the presence of a scattering medium consisting of TiO 2 nanomembranes. Evidence for coexistence of extended and localized modes are presented.
