Abstract Landslide susceptibility (LS) mapping is an essential tool for landslide risk assessment. This study aimed to provide a new approach with better performance for landslide mapping and adopting readily available variables. In addition, it investigates the capability of a state-of-the-art model developed using the group method of data handling (GMDH) to spatially model LS. While mobile device receives increasing attention as a practical tool to remotely check patients’ health, little research has shed light on physicians’ acceptance of this information and communication technology. This study attempts to fill this research gap by examining how Japanese and Spanish physicians perceive a series of factors associated with mobile diabetes monitoring acceptance, and whether any differences exist in these perceptions between the countries due to different levels of physician scarcity, which is operationalised as the number of physicians available per 10,000 population. This work analyses the state of water resources in six Mediterranean islands: Corsica, Crete, Cyprus, Mallorca, Malta and Sicily. The analysis is focused on the prevailing social, economic and hydroclimatological characteristics of these islands in order to identify the main common features affecting water availability, demand and use.
