Measurement of Prompt Photon Production In Hadronic-z Decays

1993

The production of isolated photons in hadronic Z decays is measured with the ALEPH detector at LEP using a sample of 450 000 hadronic events. The corrected rate is given for several values of the minimum invariant mass squared cut between the photon and the jets. This measurement of final state radiation from the quarks is compared with the predictions of parton shower models JETSET, ARIADNE and HERWIG as well as with the predictions of QCD matrix element calculations. Study regarding the improvement of the postage transport system in the city of Sibiu

2021

This paper presents a study on the improvement of postal system in the city of Sibiu where there are a number of three post offices that serve a number of eight counters, to which are added the distribution point and the collection point. Each post office has a well-established work schedule that differs from one office to another. The transport of postal items between the counters / post offices within the municipality of Sibiu and the collection office, must be done on a certain route, in order to respect the work schedule of each office and to take into account a number of restriction factors. In order to streamline the process of collecting and distributing postal items in Sibiu, 6 rout…

Mothers who killed or attempted to kill their child: life circumstances, childhood abuse, and types of killing.

1999

The objectives of the present study were to examine the life circumstances, childhood abuse, and types of homicidal acts of 48 mothers who killed/attempted to kill their children) under age 12 between 1970-96 in Finland. Data on the mothers’ life stresses, psychological problems, and childhood abuse were collected from mental state examination (MSE) reports. The cases were divided into 15 neonaticides and 33 mothers who killed an older child. Childhood abuse was documented in 63% of the mothers’ MSE reports. Qualitative analysis identified neonaticides, joint homicide-suicide attempts, impulsive aggression, psychotic acts, postpartum depression, and abusive acts. Nonlinear principal compone…

A distributed minimum losses optimal power flow for islanded microgrids

2017

Abstract In this work, the minimum losses optimal power dispatch problem for islanded microgrids with distributed energy resources (DER) is solved by means of a distributed heuristic approach. Optimal power management is performed almost in real time, with a predefined schedule, i.e. every 5 min, and the solution is applied to generators when the current operating solution violates voltage or current constraints or when the current configuration produces too large power losses. The operating point of both inverter-interfaced generation units as well as rotating production systems can be modified simply using local information. The latter are voltage measurements and power injections or load…

Durchimpfungsraten bei Kindern in Deutschland 1999

2001

Hintergrund.

THE INTEGRATION OF GREEN-BUILDING TASKS AND PROJECT-DESIGN PROCESSO - CASE STUDY

2018

The development of a green-building project following a specific reference standard such as LEED, brings new conditions and restrains for all subjects involved in the process. Such changes affect technicians, owners, bureaucracy and also the management tasks either during design or construction phases.  Within this scope, the management of sustainabilityrelated activities plays a key role for the optimization of the design-project development. This research analyzes the design process of two different case-study projects undergoing the same green-building certification from the project management perspective. In both project sustainability-related activities were performed throughout the de…

Project Scheduling with Stochastic Activity Interruptions

1999

In this chapter we address the problem of scheduling the activities of a resource-constrained project, some of which may be interrupted by an uncertain amount of time. The resources may be, for example, machines in a jobshop, computers with specialized software packages (as those needed for engineering designs), or highly specialized technicians.

Justification technique generalizations

2006

The justification technique was introduced various decades ago for the resource-constrained project scheduling problem, although it has rarely been used with the problem. Justification is a simple and quick technique which when applied to schedules produces a new schedule that is, at most, as long as the original schedule — and often shorter. A recent article (Valls et al, 2005), showed that incorporating justification in heuristic algorithms can produce a substancial improvement in the results obtained. These results have motivated us to generalise this technique in order to study it in greater depth. This paper proposes distinct forms and generalisations for the justification technique an…

The independence of positive and negative affect depends on the affect measure

1998

Abstract This study examined the degree of independence between Positive Affect (PA) and Negative Affect (NA) within a given situation. The affective state was measured before and after an experimentally induced success or failure experience in an anagram task. Two types of affect measures were used to assess PA and NA: the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS) and a Pleasantness-Unpleasantness scale. Consistent with our hypotheses, results show that PA and NA are independent when measured with the PANAS but are correlated when assessed with the other scale. These PA-NA correlations differed significantly from each other before and after emotion induction, respectively. Additional a…

Learning Surgical Skills with Simulator Training: Residents’ Experiences and Perceptions

2011

Simulator training is becoming a more integral part of surgical psychomotor skills training for video-assisted operating techniques, which need to be practiced repeatedly and systematically. Studies concerning the implementation, realization, and potentiality of simulator training programs for hospital surgeons are needed. Also, trainees’ expectations of training, and the feasibility of combining such training with their hospital work, remain rather unknown. This paper presents important theoretical factors that influence surgical skills learning through computer-based simulator training. The curriculum and the study of learners’ training experiences are presented. Statistical analysis on p…
