A Delay-Centric Dynamic Resource Allocation Algorithm for Wireless Communication Systems Based on HNN

This paper proposes a dynamic resource-allocation (DRA) algorithm for packet data services in wireless communication systems based on Hopfleld neural networks (HNNs). The resource-allocation algorithm assumes a delay-centric approach in that it maximizes resource utilization of the overall system while minimizing the packet delay. The real-time (RT) working capability of HNN hardware implementation means that a very powerful scheduling DRA algorithm can be obtained. PerPot: A metamodel for simulation of load performance interaction

A metamodel is introduced, which on one hand can help to understand particular effects and phenomena in the interaction of load and performance in training processes. On the other hand, it can be used as a starting point for refinements to specific adaptation models. Finally, a software tool has been developed that supports different simulation approaches—for example, basic analysis of model parameter influences, diagnosis of the state of real adaptation systems, optimization of given load performance interactions, and planning optimal training schedules.

a b s t r a c t A broad area in astronomy focuses on simulating extragalactic objects based on Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) radio-maps. Several algorithms in this scope simulate what would be the observed radio-maps if emitted from a predefined extragalactic object. This work analyzes the performance and scaling of this kind of algorithms on multi-socket, multi-core architectures. Multi-Objective and Multi-Criteria Analysis for Optimal Pump Scheduling in Water Systems

This contribution focuses on the problem of optimal pump scheduling, a fundamental element in pursuing operation optimization of water distribution systems. A combined approach of multi-objective optimization and multi-criteria analysis is herein suggested to first find the Pareto front of non-dominated solutions and then to rank them based on a set of weighted criteria. The Non-Dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm (NSGA-II) is proposed to solve the multi-objective problem, while the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) is used to achieve the final ranking.

In the recycling process of the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) the disassembly process has a central role. Disassembly is not the reverse of the assembly process, real difficulties occur in the tasks assignment process of the disassembly operations. Since this is a multi objective optimization problem, we prove that genetic algorithms provide a useful multi-criteria decision tool in the industrial disassembly process.
Tuning of QoS Aware Load Balancing Algorithm (QoS–LB) for Highly Loaded Server Clusters

This paper introduces a novel algorithm for content based switching. A content based scheduling algorithm (QoS Aware Load Balancing Algorithm, QoS-LB) which can be used at the front-end of the server cluster is presented. The front-end switch uses the content information of the requests and the load on the back servers to choose the server to handle each request. At the same time, different Quality of Service (QoS) classes of the customers can be considered as one parameter in the load balancing algorithm. This novel feature becomes more important when service providers begin to offer the same services for customers with different priorities.

In this paper we evaluate the performance of dynamic Packet Scheduling (PS) of 3GPP UTRAN Long Term Evolution (LTE) Downlink. Packet scheduling is of utmost importance in 3G LTE, because all traffic types with different Quality of Service requirements are competing of the resources. We present a decoupled time and frequency domain packet scheduling framework for LTE downlink. Simulation results with three basic packet scheduler combinations with different amount of fairness are presented in four different 3GPP macro simulation cases to show the both extremes in tradeoff between fairness and spectral efficiency.
