IMPROVEMENT OF THE ASSESSMENT CRITERIA FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH PROJECTS - A PREMISE OF INCREASING THE UNIVERSITY SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH PERFORMANCE
2013
The National Plan for Research, Development and Innovation 2007 – 2013, called herein the National Plan II, represents the main instrument used to implement the National Strategy for Research, Development and Innovation. Universities play a unique role in the development of the knowledge-based society, through its contribution to knowledge generation, transmission, dissemination and utilization. The essential role of the university is to shape the highly qualified human resource, a process that implies a symbiosis between the education and research, the education system performances contributing in this way to a great extent to the society development. The highly qualified human resource re…

The paper, in the first part, it is focused on the idea of offence and it definition, because it is important to define this term in order to compare deviations and offences. In the second part, the paper refers to those situations when the deviations from the rules of good conduct in scientific research can become offences according to the Criminal Code. In addition, in the paper are analyse the regulation from art. 21 Law no. 206/2004 and some examples of situations when deviations can became offences. To complete this picture …
Oral Discourse In Scientific Research
2018
This chapter discusses the role and characteristics of oral discourse in scientific research, with “scientific” understood in a broad sense, covering any discipline of research. After introducing corpora of oral academic discourse, genre-specific characteristics of PhD defences, research group meetings, colloquia, and conference presentations are discussed from a discoursal point of view. In scientific research, oral discourse plays a fundamental role in the social construction of knowledge. Its analysis offers valuable insights into the sociology of scientific communities. peerReviewed
Examining Open Innovation in Science (OIS): what Open Innovation can and cannot offer the science of science
2021
Scholars across disciplines increasingly hear calls for more open andcollaborative approaches to scientific research. The concept of OpenInnovation in Science (OIS) provides a framework that integratesdispersed research efforts aiming to understand the antecedents, contingencies, and consequences of applying open and collaborativeresearch practices. While the OIS framework has already been taken upby science of science scholars, its conceptual underpinnings requirefurther specification. In this essay, we critically examine the OIS conceptand bring to light two key aspects: 1) how OIS builds upon OpenInnovation (OI) research by adopting its attention to boundary-crossingknowledge flows and by…
SEA URCHIN RESEARCH: MILESTONES, MEMORIES, AND FUTURE CHALLENGES
2017
The sea urchin eggs and embryos have been used for nearly two centuries as experimental models for classical and modern developmental biology. In the late 1870s, the ground-breaking observations independently obtained by Hertwig and Fol highlighted for the first time that a single sperm enters the oocyte and the male and female pronuclei fuse at fertilization.1 From that point on, the seminal studies of Boveri, Driesch, and Herbst allowed conceptualization of basic biological themes, such as the chromosome theory of heredity.2 In the first half of the twentieth century, the embryo manipulation experiments performed by Hörstadius and Runnström further advanced the field, introducing the conc…
