Total joint replacement in patients suffering from developmental dysplasia of the hip poses specific technical difficulties due to insufficient bone stock at the site of the original and secondary acetabulum and a narrow, cranially displaced proximal femur. Twelve hips with severe congenital dislocation (4 Crowe type II, 5 type III, 3 type IV) were treated with cementless, porous structured total hip replacement. Abstract Background Adalimumab and golimumab are effective in the treatment of moderate to severe ulcerative colitis. Aims We reported the comparative effectiveness of adalimumab and golimumab in ulcerative colitis. Methods 118 patients treated with adalimumab and 79 treated with golimumab were included and evaluated at 8 weeks and at the end of follow up. Results Overall clinical benefit was 72.6% at 8 weeks and 58.9% at the end of follow up. Patients with longer disease duration and those treated with adalimumab had a better outcome. Smoothed score confidence interval for the breakpoint in segmented regression

For the breakpoint parameter in segmented regression we consider confidence intervals based on the score statistic. Due to unsmoothness of the score, we propose to build the confidence intervals using its smoothed version under proper shape restrictions. Some simulations are presented to assess the finite sample performance of the proposed approach.

Measuring the perceived value of rural tourism: a field survey in the western Sicilian agritourism sector

Rural tourism constitutes a valuable tool for the sustainable development of many rural areas. This paper examines the concept of perceived value in rural tourism. A quantitative field survey was carried out in some main Western Sicilian holiday farms (agritourisms) during the Spring 2014. A theoretical model of the tourists’ perceived value in this specific context was developed and validated, using a 22-item scale.
