This article intends to explore the relationship between CLIL and literary education by considering the results of a case study involving the teaching of foreign literatures from an intercultural perspective in Italian secondary schools. In the first part we introduce a model of literary and intercultural communicative competence and in the second part we present a case study implemented in three secondary schools in Northern Italy. Abstract The paper discusses teaching materials on thermodynamics, designed and implemented in 5 classes of scientifically-oriented secondary schools in Italy (grade 12). The materials are designed to: i) foster conceptual understanding; ii) create a learning environment rich enough to enable each student to find a personal way for appropriating content knowledge. In order to achieve the first aim, the design takes into account the main results of literature about student's difficulties in thermodynamics. The prevalence of back pain (BP) among children and adolescents has increased over recent years. Some authors advocate promoting back-health education in the school setting. It is therefore important to adopt a uniform suite of assessment instruments to measure the various constructs. Se analizan las competencias de pensamiento histórico de estudiantes españoles de bachillerato y del Máster de Profesorado, y sus narrativas sobre historia de España. Se utilizan métodos cualitativos para identificar: a) su pensamiento histórico, que comprende conocimientos sustantivos y uso de metaconceptos; b) en cuanto a sus narrativas, la gradación cognitiva (taxonomía SOLO) y el sujeto narrativo utilizado. The double cone: a mechanical paradox or a geometrical constraint?

In the framework of the Italian National Plan ‘Lauree Scientifiche’ (PLS) in collaboration with secondary schools, we have investigated the mechanical paradox of the double cone. We have calculated the geometric condition for obtaining an upward movement. Based on this result, we have built a mechanical model with a double cone made of aluminum and a couple of wooden rails.
A didactic experiment and model of a flat-plate solar collector

We report on an experiment performed with a home-made flat-plate solar collector, carried out together with high-school students. To explain the experimental results, we propose a model that describes the heating process of the solar collector. The model accounts quantitatively for the experimental data. We suggest that solar-energy topics should be included in school programmes to give students the opportunity to gain experience with solar energy and increase their awareness of the benefits that can be obtained from this remarkable and renewable energy source.

Lukivaikeus on yksi yleisimmistä oppimisen vaikeuksista ja koskettaa myös suurta osaa lukiolaisista. Suuressa osassa lukioita ei kuitenkaan tarjota erillistä erityisopetusta, vaan tukimuodot rajoittuvat lukivaikeusdiagnoosin saaneilla lähinnä lisäaikaan kokeissa. Täten vastuu mahdollisen tuen antamisesta on tällä hetkellä aineenopettajalla.
