Endoscopic resection (ER) has gained more and more importance in the treatment of high grade dysplasia (HGD) in Barrett's esophagus over the last few years. The choice of the different available techniques depends on the macroscopic type of the lesion and the personal experience of the endoscopist. But the "suck and cut"-technique with ligation device or cap should be favoured to normal strip biopsy in the esophagus because of the size of the resected specimen and its technical feasibility. Several studies demonstrate the effectivity and safety of ER in patients with HGD, therefore ER should be the treatment of choice in these patients.

By immunolabeling of cryosections, we have characterized in rat cardiac myocytes the cation-independent mannose-6-phosphate receptor (MPR), a lysosomal membrane glycoprotein, lgp120, and a lysosomal enzyme, MEP (homologous to cathepsin L). Most of the MPR label was located in large membrane-filled structures (MPR structures) in large clusters of mitochondria adjacent to but distinct from the Golgi complex. Lpg120 and MEP showed typical lysosomal localization throughout the cell, often associated with regions that appeared to contain autophagosome-like structures. Purpose: To estimate the prevalence of vertebral fracture and densitometric osteoporosis in postmenopausal women over the age of 50 in Valencia, Spain. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in 2006-2007. An age-stratified population-based random sample of 824 postmenopausal women over the age of 50 answered a questionnaire and received a densitometric examination of the lumbar spine and hip with dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry and a lateral X-ray of the thoracic spine and lumbar regions. Summary Background Repair of incisional hernia (IH) in the elderly is a challenge for the surgeon. Primary closure is preferable but is not always possible because of high recurrence rates of IH repaired without a prosthesis and/or possible respiratory and cardiovascular complications due to extreme tension of the margins.
