Periscope endograft technique to revascularize the left subclavian artery during thoracic endovascular aortic repair.

2013

Purpose: To present early and midterm results of the periscope endograft (PG) technique to maintain left subclavian artery (LSA) blood flow in thoracic endovascular aortic repairs (TEVAR) involving zone 3. Methods: From April 2010 to January 2013, 14 consecutive high-risk patients (11 men; mean age 7068 years, range 56–87) underwent TEVAR with the PG technique for 10 thoracic aortic aneurysms (TAA), 2 traumatic aortic ruptures, and 2 aortic dissections without a suitable landing zone (.2 cm distal to the LSA). Five procedures were performed emergently for rupture (3 TAAs and the 2 trauma cases). Two patients had a periscope deployed in an aberrant right subclavian artery. The periscope endo…

QCD NLO with Powheg matching and top threshold matching in WHIZARD

2016

We present the status of the automation of NLO processes within the event generator WHIZARD. The program provides an automated FKS subtraction and phase space integration over the FKS regions, while the (QCD) NLO matrix element is accessed via the Binoth Les Houches Interface from an externally linked one-loop program. Massless and massive test cases and validation are shown for several e+e- processes. Furthermore, we discuss work in progress and future plans. The second part covers the matching of the NRQCD prediction with NLL threshold resummation to the NLO continuum top pair production at lepton colliders. Both the S-wave and P-wave production of the top pair are taken into account in t…

Associations of Work-Family Conflict with Family-Specific, Work-Specific, and Well-Being-Related Variables in a Sample of Polish and Ukrainian Adults…

2022

The conflict between work and family demands increased during the COVID-19 pandemic due to changes in lifestyle related to the lockdown. This study examines the associations between work-family conflict (WFC) and family-work conflict (FWC) with work-specific, family-specific, and well-being-related variables during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The results may be used in practice to improve the well-being of employees by adjusting home-based work and family areas of life to dynamic changes during the pandemic. The sample of 736 adults from Poland (53.26%) and Ukraine (46.74%), aged between 19 and 72 (M = 39.40; SD = 10.80), participated in the study. The cross-sectional study wa…

Changes in food habits amongst Norwegian adolescents in 2016 and 2019 according to gender and socioeconomic status

2021

Background: Monitoring dietary habits is important in order to identify risk groups and as a basis for targeted public health initiatives. Objective: To study trends in consumption of selected foods and beverages from 2016 to 2019 amongst Norwegian adolescents according to gender and parental education. Design: Repeated cross-sectional study amongst 25,996 adolescents, aged 14–17 years old. Consumption of selected food and beverages was measured by an online food frequency questionnaire and general linear models were applied to estimate changes in dietary habits. Results: Between 2016 and 2019, we observed a reduced frequency of consumption of vegetables (from 4.7 to 4.4 times/week), fruit …

Infantilas rīšanas paradumi un citas orofaciālā kompleksa atradnes pirmsskolas vecuma bērniem Latvijā

2019

Time interaction with two spatial dimensions: from left/right to near/far

2022

In this study, we explored the time and space relationship according to two different spatial codings, namely, the left/right extension and the reachability of stimulus along a near/far dimension. Four experiments were carried out in which healthy participants performed the time and spatial bisection tasks in near/far space, before and after short or long tool-use training. Stimuli were prebisected horizontal lines of different temporal durations in which the midpoint was manipulated according to the Muller-Lyer illusion. The perceptual illusory effects emerged in spatial but not temporal judgments. We revealed that temporal and spatial representations dynamically change according to the ac…

The link of a finitely determined map germ from R 2 to R 2

2010

Let f: (R2, 0) → (R2, 0) be a finitely determined map germ. The link of f is obtained by taking a small enough representative f: U ⊂ R2 → R2 and the intersection of its image with a small enough sphere Sε1 centered at the origin in R2. We will describe the topology of f in terms of the Gauss word associated to its link.

Engine/Transmission Matching

2014

This chapter deals with the forecasting of vehicle performance on the road, according to the installed engine. It begins with Section 1, which shows the calculation of the resistance to motion, that is, the forces that the vehicle must overcome to advance on flat roads and uphill. The calculation excludes accidental resistance in curves because it is not essential for predicting the behavior of the vehicle on the road. Section 2 begins with the power characteristic, the forecast by traction–speed and power–speed diagrams, calculation of gear ratios, and then passing to the limits to the estimated acceleration, feature consumption, and distance. This chapter concludes with a section on the d…

Improving the Effect of Transcranial Alternating Current Stimulation (tACS): A Systematic Review

2021

With the development of electrical stimulation technology, traditional transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) technology has been found to have the drawback of not targeting a specific area accurately. Studies have shown that optimizing the number and position of electrodes during electrical stimulation has a very good effect on enhancing brain stimulation accuracy. At present, an increasing number of laboratories have begun to optimize tACS. However, there has been no study summarizing the optimization methods of tACS. Determining whether different optimization methods are effective and the optimization approach could provide information that could guide future tACS research. …

The fate of patients with locally advanced bladder cancer treated conservatively with neoadjuvant chemotherapy, extensive transurethral resection and…

1998

Purpose: The authors assessed the results of bladder preservation for infiltrating bladder cancer. The potential for neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by extensive transurethral resection and radiation therapy was evaluated in 40 patients with T2-T4a G2-G3 bladder carcinoma. Materials and Methods: From 1983 to 1995, 40 patients with bladder cancer underwent bladder-sparing treatment, consisting of neoadjuvant chemotherapy, extensive transurethral resection, and radiation therapy. Most patients had T3G3 cancer. A deep transurethral resection biopsy was performed before and after chemotherapy, and an extensive transurethral resection was repeated at the end of radiation therapy. Thirty patien…
