National cyber threat prevention mechanism as a part of the E-EWS
2020
The research will find out feature-based functionalities concerning the national cybersecurity system HAVARO and how the system is possible to implement to the EU level early warning system. The research based on interviews, official materials concerning the HAVARO information sharing system, scientific literature and other official published documents. The European level decision-makers have recognized that lack of cooperation between EU member countries effects to completely public safety atmosphere. The only problem does not consist of separate operational functions and procedures between national Cyber situation centers. One main problem is that the European Union does not have a common…
Anomaly-based online intrusion detection system as a sensor for cyber security situational awareness system
2016
Almost all the organisations and even individuals rely on complex structures of data networks and networked computer systems. That complex data ensemble, the cyber domain, provides great opportunities, but at the same time it offers many possible attack vectors that can be abused for cyber vandalism, cyber crime, cyber espionage or cyber terrorism. Those threats produce requirements for cyber security situational awareness and intrusion detection capability. This dissertation concentrates on research and development of anomaly-based network intrusion detection system as a sensor for a situational awareness system. In this dissertation, several models of intrusion detection systems are devel…
Ecological risk assessment of pesticides in the Mijares River (eastern Spain) impacted by citrus production using wide-scope screening and target qua…
2021
The widespread use of pesticides, especially in agricultural areas, makes necessary to control their presence in surrounding surface waters. The current study was designed to investigate the occurrence and ecological risks of pesticides and their transformation products in a Mediterranean river basin impacted by citrus agricultural production. Nineteen sites were monitored in three campaigns distributed over three different seasons. After a qualitative screening, 24 compounds was selected for subsequent quantitative analysis. As expected, the lower section of the river was most contaminated, with total concentration >5 µg/L in two sites near to the discharge area of wastewater treatment pla…
Retos y oportunidades de la tecnología móvil en la educación física (Challenges and opportunities of mobile technology in physical education).
2019
Health effects of mercury ingested through consumption of seafood
1995
It is known world-wide literature that seafood consumption is the main source of mercury intake in people not occupationally exposed. Several studies on the presence of mercury in sea water, sediment and fish and its effects on human health have been carried out in many countries in the Mediterranean area such as Greece, Italy and Jugoslavia. Few data have been published on Sicilian coastal population, consumers of high amounts of fish and on seawater status as the starting point of alimentary chains involving marine food. This study was carried out in July 1991 and July 1992 to determine total mercury and methylmercury levels in selected populations of the coast of Sicily: fishermen in a l…
Soil is brown gold in the Emilia-Romagna region, Italy
2014
Soil is a natural resource essential to human welfare by virtue of its numerous crucial functions. In the past, soil has been taken for granted because of its widespread, albeit finite, availability. However, now that world's population is projected to exceed ten billion before the end of this century, soil is increasingly perceived as a precious commodity. Consequently, soil is increasingly under pressure by rich private investors and governments within the poorest countries to satisfy appetites for food production and biofuel. A case study is used to explore the plausibility of soil being considered as ‘brown gold’. Based on the comparison of land use maps, we estimated the value in terms…
Privacy Versus Security in the Internet Era
2015
Abstract There are a lots of conflict going on in the world right now. One of this conflict we are put into discussion here, is the battle for supremacy in the internet, the battle between privacy and security. We are changing fundamentally the way we are doing things till the Internet era arrive. Every data that we use online became a product. There is no more private information, everything became public with or without the population will. There are also a lot of discussion about who have a greater power on the Internet, government, companies, hackers, criminals, terrorists, or others. Unfortunately the neuter population is catch in the middle of this battle.
Modeling Vaccine Allocations in the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Case Study in Australia
2020
Timely allocation and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines on a large scale is a highly complex, dynamic, and context-specific task. The focus of this research on optimizing vaccine allocation is on the downstream part of a COVID-19 vaccine supply chain. Previous research on vaccine supply chains and pandemic supply chains has not fully incorporated the multitude of factors and underlying constraints affecting a vaccine supply chain which can be optimized to mitigate the risk of infection. An effective model is needed to conceptualize the process of the downstream vaccine supply chain to ensure efficient coordination and timely distribution of vaccines to the population. This paper develops a …
Agricultural Policy and the Struggle over the Destiny of Collective Farms in Estonia
1999
The principal goal of several Estonian governments has been the privatization of agriculture, replacing large collective farms with western family farms. This has happened despite a clear majority of kolkhoz and sovkhoz workers who favoured preserving the system of large-scale farms. The abstract restitutionalist and ultra-liberalist ideas became a fixed dogma, unconnected with resolving immediate pragmatic problems, because government policy was not articulated with the interests of the agricultural population. Nevertheless, the large-scale system has been partially preserved thanks to the resistance of the rural population. In many respects the outcome of decollectivization also depended …
