Corrective factors of intestinal microflora disorders in the perinatal period
2019
Intestinal microflora is found at approximately 104 bacteria per ml of intestinal fluid. Although this ecosystem is very diverse with dynamic changes taking place within it, there is a certain stability in the type and number of species, referred to as the core microbiome, found in 95% of the human population. Genetic variation of microorganisms is relatively small, and their functions are strictly defined and highly conservative. The microbiome exists symbiotically with the host, protecting it against colonization by pathogenic microorganisms, providing essential metabolites, and stimulating the immune system. Colonization begins prenatally and its development is greatly influenced by the …

Seeded and spontaneous higher-order modulation instability
2012
International audience; We report on the dynamics of the higher-order modulation instability in optical fibers and show that it is the very same phenomenon that underpins the emergence of rogue waves in the early stage of supercontinuum generation.
Tuning the high-order harmonic lines of a Nd:Glass laser for soft x-ray laser seeding
2010
Taking advantage of the non-adiabatic blue-shift of high-order harmonics generated by a fixed frequency Nd:Glass laser system, we are able to report more than 50 % coverage of the XUV spectral range between 18 nm and 35 nm. The generated harmonic lines are capable of seeding Ni-like Y, Zr and Mo soft x-ray lasers and others.
Channeled scaffolds implanted in adult rat brain.
2012
Scaffolds with aligned channels based on acrylate copolymers, which had previously demonstrated good com- patibility with neural progenitor cells were studied as coloniz- able structures both in vitro with neural progenitor cells and in vivo, implanted without cells in two different locations, in the cortical plate of adult rat brains and close to the subven- tricular zone. In vitro, neuroprogenitors colonize the scaffold and differentiate into neurons and glia within its channels. When implanted in vivo immunohistochemical analysis by confocal microscopy for neural and endothelial cells markers demonstrated that the scaffolds maintained continuity with the surrounding neural tissue and wer…
Shade effects on overseeded bermudagrass athletic fields: I. Turfgrass coverage and growth rate
2019
Shade from athletic stadium structures can be a significant deterrent to turfgrass performance. The objective of this study was to determine the daily light requirements of an overseeded or non-overseeded bermudagrass (Cynodon spp.) turf maintained to simulate an athletic field. An experiment was established in 2013 on a mature bermudagrass [Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers. cv. Riviera] turf that was either overseeded with perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) or non-overseeded. Plots were re-seeded with ryegrass each fall, but ryegrass was allowed to transition without chemical removal. Shade structures were installed to create four light level treatments including a full-sun control (0% shade…
Election Manipulation on Social Networks: Seeding, Edge Removal, Edge Addition
2021
We focus on the election manipulation problem through social influence, where a manipulator exploits a social network to make her most preferred candidate win an election. Influence is due to information in favor of and/or against one or multiple candidates, sent by seeds and spreading through the network according to the independent cascade model. We provide a comprehensive study of the election control problem, investigating two forms of manipulations: seeding to buy influencers given a social network, and removing or adding edges in the social network given the seeds and the information sent. In particular, we study a wide range of cases distinguishing for the number of candidates or the…
Impact of fertilization and direct seeding on activity and abundance of key denitrifier communities in a tropical soil
2007
Affiche, résumé; The aim of this work was to investigate to which extent different practices impacted on the bacterial communities involved in N2O emission.
