Effects of musicianship and experimental task on perceptual segmentation

The perceptual structure of music is a fundamental issue in music psychology that can be systematically addressed via computational models. This study estimated the contribution of spectral, rhythmic and tonal descriptors for prediction of perceptual segmentation across stimuli. In a real-time task, 18 musicians and 18 non-musicians indicated perceived instants of significant change for six ongoing musical stimuli. In a second task, 18 musicians parsed the same stimuli using audio editing software to provide non-real-time segmentation annotations. This paper presents an information fusion method for image retrieval; the retrieval strategy is based on statistical and geometrical features extracted from sub-images. Our goal is to find a set of best similar images related to a prototype image; this goal may be obtained according to image content rather than symbolic attributes. Novel VAMPIRE algorithms for quantitative analysis of the retinal vasculature

This paper summarizes three recent, novel algorithms developed within VAMPIRE, namely optic disc and macula detection, arteryvein classification, and enhancement of binary vessel masks, and their performance assessment. VAMPIRE is an international collaboration growing a suite of software tools to allow efficient quantification of morphological properties of the retinal vasculature in large collections of fundus camera images. VAMPIRE measurements are currently mostly used in biomarker research, i.e., investigating associations between the morphology of the retinal vasculature and a number of clinical and cognitive conditions.

Au regard de la population concernée par la discipline, il est légitime de la qualifier de service. Cet article propose une lecture géographique de l'offre du service football (les clubs) et de la demande exprimée par les pratiquants. La spatialisation des composants de ce service sportif dans un cadre régional (la Franche-Comté) a pour objectif d'apporter des éléments de connaissance permettant d'ajuster au mieux l'offre des clubs à la demande sociale.

While listening to music, people, often unwittingly, break down musical pieces into constituent chunks such as verses and choruses. Music segmentation studies have suggested that some consensus regarding boundary perception exists, despite individual differences.
