Influencing the self‐sorting behavior of [2.2]paracyclophane based ligands by introducing isostructural binding motifs

Two isostructural ligands with either nitrile ( L nit ) or isonitrile ( L iso ) moieties directly connected to a [2.2]paracyclophane backbone with pseudo‐meta substitution pattern have been synthesized. The ligand itself ( L nit ) or its precursors ( L iso ) were resolved via HPLC on a chiral stationary phase and the absolute configuration of the isolated enantiomers was assigned by XRD analysis and/or by comparison of quantum‐chemical simulated and experimental ECD‐spectra. RATIONALE: Investigation of fundamental aspects driving surfactant self-assembling and of the capability of including guest molecules or ions in their micellar aggregates is an exciting research field for theoretical and technological reasons. Initial-Stage Suicide Bereavement Experiences: A Case Study.

This study aimed to shed light on the initial-stage bereavement experiences of an individual bereaved by suicide, at three months from the loss of his spouse to suicide. A semi-structured in-depth interview was conducted with the individual, a man in his thirties. The data were analyzed using qualitative assimilation analysis, based on the Assimilation Model and the Assimilation of Problematic Experiences Scale (APES). The APES ratings of the interview revealed that the individual’s bereavement was associated with the earlier stages of APES (all scoring under 3.5). Family members bereaved by their loved ones’ suicidal death normally undergo a complicated and lengthy bereavement process. In this qualitative case study, we explored longitudinal changes in the suicide bereavement process by applying assimilation analysis, based on the Assimilation Model (AM) and the Assimilation of Problematic Experiences Scale (APES), to longitudinal interview data collected from two Chinese suicide-bereaved individuals within the first 18 months after their loss. Context Forest biodiversity is closely linked to habitat heterogeneity, while forestry actions often cause habitat homogenization. Alternative approaches to even-aged management were developed to restore habitat heterogeneity at the stand level, but how their application could promote habitat diversity at landscape scale remains uncertain. Objectives We tested the potential benefit of diversifying management regimes to increase landscape-level heterogeneity. Maģistra darbā „Svešvārdu semantiskās atbilsmes latviešu un itāliešu valodā” tiek salīdzināti un analizēti līdzīga skanējuma, bet atšķirīgas nozīmes vai nozīmes nianses svešvārdi – īpašības vārdi latviešu un itāliešu valodā. Teorētiskajā daļā tiek aprakstīta un skaidrota svešvārdu izpratne latviešu un itāliešu valodniecībā, kā arī tiek sniegts ieskats itāliešu valodas leksiskas attīstībā, kas līdz šim latviešu valodā vēl nav ticis publicēts. Praktiskajā daļā tiek skatītas un analizētas konkrētu svešvārdu nozīmes abās valodās, balstoties uz vārdnīcās, kā arī valodas korpusos pieejamo informāciju. How Sicily Made Its Sweet Symbols: Glocal Identity and Food

Food is an effective symbol capable of strongly evoking a cultural identity. In the case of Sicily, this role is mainly played by pastry, and in particular by two sweets: cannolo (the singular of cannoli) and cassata. But how does it happen that just these two preparations, rather than others, take on this value? What are their meanings and what determines them? Are cannolo and cassata the expression of a remote and spontaneous tradition as we generally like to believe? Semiotic analysis not only leads us to understand the complexity of these two pieces of a gastronomy, but also to reflect on the whole notion of symbol, rethinking its limits and possibilities.

Pro- gradu tutkielmassani haluan tuoda kielitieteen ”vaihdin”- käsitteen osaksi visuaalisen analyysin työkaluja. Keskityn tutkielmassani maalaustaiteeseen. ”Vaihdin” on kielitieteissä sana, jonka merkitys voi muuttua erilaiseksi, vaikka sen syntaksi pysyisi samana. Käsitteen lanseeraajaksi on nimetty tanskalainen kielitieteilijä Otto Jespersen, mutta se on esiintynyt myös venäläisen Roman Jakobsonin teksteissä. Maalaustaiteissa vaihdin on kuva-aihe tai objekti, jota jokin toinen taiteilija käyttää omassa tuotannossaan hyväkseen. Electrochemical interfaces and reactions play a decisive role in e.g. clean energy conversion but understanding their complex chemistry remains an outstanding challenge. Constant potential or grand canonical ensemble (GCE) simulations are indispensable for unraveling the properties of electrochemical processes as a function of the electrode potential. Currently, constant electrode potential calculations at the density functional theory (DFT) level are carried out by fixing the Fermi level of the simulation cell.
