Exploring the elements for value co-creation in consumer information systems in B2B context : a case study on the business event industry

2014

Tämä tutkielma tarkastelee arvon yhteisluontia verkkopalvelussa B2B-kontekstissa käyttäen tutkimuksen toimialana kaupallisia seminaareja ja koulutuksia. Viitekehyksenä tutkimuksessa käytetään arvon yhteisluonnin mallia kuluttajatietojärjestelmissä (CIS), jolla nähdään ammatillisten seminaarien ja koulutusten järjestäjien ja osallistujien (n=22) arvoja ja motivaatioita tapahtumiin osallistumiseen sekä tutkitaan myös mitkä ominaisuudet koetaan tarpeelliseksi toimialan tapahtumien promootioon perustuvaan verkkopalveluun. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena on tunnistaa arvon yhteisluonnin elementit sekä mahdollisia eroavaisuuksia verkkopalvelun B2B-käyttäjän käyttötarpeissa sekä järjestelmän käyttökokemuk…

Digital Trace Data in the Study of Public Opinion

2016

In this article, we examine the relationship between metrics documenting politics-related Twitter activity with election results and trends in opinion polls. Various studies have proposed the possibility of inferring public opinion based on digital trace data collected on Twitter and even the possibility to predict election results based on aggregates of mentions of political actors. Yet, a systematic attempt at a validation of Twitter as an indicator for political support is lacking. In this article, building on social science methodology, we test the validity of the relationship between various Twitter-based metrics of public attention toward politics with election results and opinion pol…

Quantum wells within quantum dots, a CdS/HgS nanoheterostructure with global and local confinement

1998

Semiconductor nanocrystals prepared by methods of wet chemistry are similar to MBE grown quantum dots where the mobility of the charge carriers is reduced to zero dimensionality. In this paper we summarize the physics of a unique system in which the charge carriers are locally confined within a heterogeneous quantum dot. With high resolution electron microscopy we will show that epitaxial growth ot atomic layer precision is possible by methods of solution chemistry leading to CdS quantum dots with embedded HgS quantum wells (QDQWs). The photophysics of this system is investigated by time-correlated single photon counting, transient differential absorption and fluorescence line narrowing spe…

Co-adsorption processes, kinetics and quantum mechanical modelling of nanofilm semiconductor gas sensors

2010

A quantum mechanical model of co-adsorption on semiconductor surfaces is developed and successfully adopted towards exposure to several gases. It is related to nanofilms and thus allows the application of electric fields altering the electronic surface properties of adsorption centres (electro-adsorptive effect, EAE). The model is matched against experimental data with O 2 , NO 2 and CO measurements under the hypothesis of no direct interaction among the species. However the sequence of adsorption plays an important role where the adsorption of one gas species is opening up other sites that are filled by another sort of impinging molecules. Quantum mechanical modelling of co-adsorption: (a)…

Interligand Electron Transfer Determines Triplet Excited State Electron Injection in RuN3−Sensitized TiO2 Films

2004

Electron injection from the transition metal complex Ru(dcbpy)(2)(NCS)(2) (dcbpy = 2,2'-bipyridine-4,4'-dicarboxylate) into a titanium dioxide nanoparticle film occurs along two pathways. The dominating part of the electron injection proceeds from the initially excited singlet state of the sensitizer into the conduction band of the semiconductor on the sub-hundred-femtosecond time scale. The slower part of the injection occurs from the thermalized triplet excited state on the picosecond time scale in a nonexponential fashion, as was shown in a previous study (Benko, G.; et al. J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2002, 124, 489). Here we show that the slower channel of injection is the result of the excited s…

Review of web-based information security threats in smart grid

2017

The penetration of digital devices in Smart Grid has created a big security issue. OWASP is an online community of security professionals that identifies the most critical web application security risk in IT domain. Smart Grid also uses client-server based web-applications to collect and disseminate information. Therefore, Smart Grid network is analogous to IT network and similar kind of risk exists in the Smart Grid. This paper review the security risk in Smart Grid domain with reference to OWASP study. The Smart Grid security is more biased towards vulnerabilities associated with a machine to machine communication. Methodology to minimise the risk of attack is also discussed in this resea…

Chemical Ecology of Insect Parasitoids: Towards a New Era

2013

Over the course of evolutionary time, insect parasitoids have developed diverse strategies for using chemical compounds to communicate with various protagonists within their environment (i.e. conspecifi cs, their hosts, and the plants on which their hosts are living). Unravelling the evolutionary meaning of such chemical communication networks not only provides new insights into the ecology of these insects but also contributes to improving the use of parasitoids for the control of insect pests in biological control programmes. A book covering our current knowledge of the chemical ecology of insect parasitoids is therefore particularly timely and will appeal to a large number of potential r…

Formidable Bracelet, Beautiful Lantern

2013

We live in an experience economy. The more saturated the global market becomes with products offering the same functions, services and quality, the more companies are wanting to appeal to the intangible needs and desires of consumers. To achieve this, designers and researchers are turning inwards to investigate the psychological factors affecting peoples' relationships and reactions towards design properties. For this reason, design semantics studies on user experience have been advancing all the time. Much emphasis has been placed on visual product experience, as well as the relationship between brand perception and user experience. These are important steps, which are referred to in this …

Genres of communication in activist eParticipation

2012

In this paper, we examine the genres of communication in an activist case in a Norwegian municipality. As genres evolve over time, and the emergence of new genre properties is a sign of a mature technology, we compare the genres used in traditional paper-based media with the genres used in social media, to examine the maturity of social media as a medium for activist eParticipation. We also discuss the usage patterns of traditional vs. social media, and their relation to the public sphere. Our findings indicate that so far, the genres used for activism in social media are very similar to their offline counterparts, with some new genres and genre characteristics emerging. Social media is mov…
