International audience; The problem of time to contact or time to collision (TTC) estimation is largely discussed in perspective images. However, a few works have dealt with images of catadioptric sensors despite of their utility in robotics applications. The objective of this paper is to develop a novel model for estimating TTC with catadioptric images relative to a planar surface, and to demonstrate that TTC can be estimated only with derivative brightness and image coordinates. In this paper, the sensitivity analysis methodology is applied to numerical welding simulation in order to rank the importance of input variables on the outputs of the code like distorsions or residual stresses. The numerical welding simulation uses the finite element method, with a thermal computation followed by a mechanical one. Classically, a local sensitivity analysis is performed, hence the validity of the results is limited to the neighbourhood of a nominal point, and cross effects cannot be detected. Tolerating malicious monitors in detecting misbehaving robots

This paper considers a multi–agent system and focuses on the detection of motion misbehavior. Previous work by the authors proposed a solution, where agents act as local monitors of their neighbors and use locally sensed information as well as data received from other monitors. In this work, we consider possible failure of monitors that may send incorrect information to their neighbors due to spontaneous or even malicious malfunctioning. In this context, we propose a distributed software architecture that is able to tolerate such failures. Effectiveness of the proposed solution is shown through preliminary simulation results.

Performance of modern robotic manipulators has enabled research and development of fast automated non-destructive testing (NDT) systems for complex geometries. This paper presents recent outcomes of work aimed at removing the bottleneck due to data acquisition rates, to fully exploit the scanning speed of modern 6-DoF manipulators. State of the art ultrasonic instrumentation has been integrated into a large robot cell to enable fast data acquisition, high scan resolutions and accurate positional encoding. Because of the welded tubular members used and environmental conditions, offshore jackets are often subjected to fatigue damages during their service life. This paper presents a novel Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) approach for supervised classification of remote sensing images. One proposes to apply an ABC algorithm to optimize the coefficients of the set of polynomial discriminant functions. We have experimented the proposed ABC-based classifier algorithm for a Landsat 7 ETM+ image database, evaluating the influence of the ABC model parameters on the classifier performances. Welds are currently only inspected after all the passes are complete and after allowing sufficient time for any hydrogen cracking to develop, typically over several days. Any defects introduced between passes are therefore unreported until fully buried, greatly complicating rework and also delaying early corrections to the weld process parameters.
