There is limited information in the literature concerning the feasibility of using algal extracts as natural additives for improvement of the quality and shelf-life ofmeat products. Hence, a Fucus vesiculosus extract (FVE) at the concentrations of 250mg kg-1 (FVE-250), 500mg kg-1 (FVE-500) and 1000mg kg-1 (FVE-1000) were added to pork patties with linseed oil oleogel as a fat replacer. RESULTS: Total polyphenol content of FVE was determined to be 20 g phloroglucinol equivalents 100 g-1 extract. Nanochannel-based biosensing devices have been proposed for selective detection of protein analyte molecules. However, the design and miniaturization of reusable channel-based biosensors is still a challenge in nanoscience and biotechnology. We present here a reusable nanofluidic biosensor based on reversible lectin-carbohydrate interactions. The nanochannels are fabricated in heavy ion tracked polymer membranes. The channel walls are functionalized with p-aminophenyl alpha-D-mannopyranoside (APMP) monolayers through carbodiimide coupling chemistry. In this study, a psychoacoustical and connectionist modeling framework is proposed for the investigation of musical cognition. It is suggested that music perception involves the manipulation of 1) sensory representations that have correlations with psychoacoustical features of the stimulus, and 2) abstract representations of the statistical regularities underlying a particular musical syntax. 5,5′-Bis-vanillin derivatives as discriminating sensors for trivalent cations

[EN] Several bis-vanillin derivatives containing semicarbazone moieties have been prepared and used in discriminating trivalent cations. The prepared probes are readily obtained and they are usually highly crystalline. Depending on the ligand and the studied cations, quenching, enhancement or no changes in the fluorescence spectrum were observed. Using a series of the prepared ligands allows distinguishing between Fe3+, Cr3+ and Al3+. Detection limits and selectivity in front of divalent cations have been evaluated. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd. Spectral and temporal distribution of biomolecules by Dynamic SERS

In this thesis, the definition of SERS as a biosensor has been tested and a new approach developed for. Also, in terms of quantification, it has been shown that SERS can be an efficient tool. Concerning the selectivity, the spectral quality was improved. A low limit of detection associated to the statistical and dynamic approach allows a very good sensitivity (under the nanomolar). This approach also enables a high reproducibility in time of the sensor. Relative Vessel Motion Tracking using Sensor Fusion, Aruco Markers, and MRU Sensors

This paper presents a novel approach for estimating the relative motion between two moving offshore vessels. The method is based on a sensor fusion algorithm including a vision system and two motion reference units (MRUs). The vision system makes use of the open-source computer vision library OpenCV and a cube with Aruco markers placed onto each of the cube sides. The Extended Quaternion Kalman Filter (EQKF) is used for bad pose rejection for the vision system. Fiber-Optic Aqueous Dipping Sensor Based on Coaxial-Michelson Modal Interferometers

2009

Fiber-optic modal interferometers with a coaxial-Michelson configuration can be used to monitor aqueous solutions by simple dipping of few centimeters of a fiber tip. The fabrication of these sensors to work around 850 nm enables the use of compact, robust, and low-cost optical spectrum analyzers. The use of this type of portable sensor system to monitor sewage treatment plants is shown.
