An efficient synthetic vision system for 3D multi-character systems
2003
This poster deals with the problem of sensing virtual environments for 3D intelligent multi-character simulations. As these creatures should display reactive skills (navigation or gazing), together with the necessary planning processes, required to animate their behaviours, we present an efficient and fully scalable sensor system designed to provide this information (low level + high level) to different kinds of 3D embodied agents (games, storytelling, etc).
Fast response vibration sensor based on Bragg gratings written in tapered core fibres
2007
Bragg gratings written in tapered core fibres permit a direct measure of mechanical vibrations with a time response better than 10 µs. The intrinsic properties of the sensors lead to a simple interrogation technique and wavelength multiplexing capacity. The sensor system is operated at 800 nm and is compact and low-cost.
Análisis modal de fibras ópticas curvadas: aplicaciones de sensor
2017
(Nano)materials: sensors and liquid chromatography
2018
Functionalized gold nanoparticles for the detection of biologically active molecules
2015
A voltammetric e-tongue tool for the emulation of the sensorial analysis and the discrimination of vegetal milks
2018
[EN] The relevance of plant-based food alternatives to dairy products, such as vegetable milks, has been growing in recent decades, and the development of systems capable of classifying and predicting the sensorial profile of such products is interesting. In this context, a methodology to perform the sensorial analysis of vegetable milks (oat, soya, rice, almond and tiger nut), based on 12 parameters, was validated. An electronic tongue based on the combination of eight metals with pulse voltammetry was also tested. The current intensity profiles are characteristic for each non-dairy milk type. Data were processed with qualitative (PCA, dendrogram) and quantitative (PLS) tools. The PCA stat…
The promotion of a tourist destination by its sensorial perspective definition
2016
In the last years there has been a special attention towards sensory marketing and experiential economy (Hulten, Broweus & Dijk, 2009). Some related contributions (Kim, Ritchie & Tung, 2010; Volo, 2010) in tourism have payed attention to a possible service customization in terms of sensorial stimuli that can be effective for the customers (Scott, Laws & Boksberger, 2010). The literature has recently emphasized the importance of the senses through which to perceive and know an area for a more complete tourist experience (Cherifi, 2015; Liu, Wang, Liu & Deng, 2005). Considering that the brand of a tourist destination expresses its identity and it should represent the synthesis of its promotio…
Sudden vestibular and hearing loss in mediterranean spotted fever: The first case report
2019
Mediterranean spotted fever is an infection disease caused by Rickettsiae and transmitted by tick puncture; the diffusion of such disease is wide in countryside of the Mediterranean regions. The disease may be complicated by several organ failure due to a vasculitis, and also the inner ear can be involved although rarely. We report the first documented case of total involvement of inner ear with sensorineural hearing loss and acute vestibular impairment. The patient was treated with medical therapy and resolution of the infection, but the inner ear damage was not reversible with persistent loss of all functions, documented by instrumental vestibular analysis.
Chromium inhibition and size-selected Au nanocluster catalysis for the solution growth of low-density ZnO nanowires.
2015
The wet chemical synthesis of nanostructures has many crucial advantages over high-temperature methods, including simplicity, low-cost, and deposition on almost arbitrary substrates. Nevertheless, the density-controlled solution growth of nanowires still remains a challenge, especially at the low densities (e.g. 1 to 10 nanowires/100 μm(2)) required, as an example, for intracellular analyses. Here, we demonstrate the solution-growth of ZnO nanowires using a thin chromium film as a nucleation inhibitor and Au size-selected nanoclusters (SSNCs) as catalytic particles for which the density and, in contrast with previous reports, size can be accurately controlled. Our results also provide evide…
Radiometric and geometric evaluation of the capabilities of the new airborne digital photogrammetric sensors
2008
In this paper the theoretic and practical points of view about the applications of the modern digital airborne sensors in the photogrammetry and remote sensing fields are described. The first part of the paper describes the theoretic matter, the second one shows the first results regarding the carried out elaborations on an image of Palermo acquired by digital airborne sensor LH System ADS40. Besides the research has examined most of sides regarding the trilinear sensor and it has highlighted the capabilities and limitations respect to the traditional analogical system and the matricial CCD sensor.
