Ranibizumab in patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration in real-world clinical settings in France: 1-year data from the LUMINOUS (T…
2016
Purpose : LUMINOUS™ (NCT01318941; initiated March 2011) is the largest, prospective, observational, global study in the field of medical retina. LUMINOUS™ is an ongoing 5-year study that is designed to evaluate the long-term safety, effectiveness, treatment patterns, and health-related quality of life associated with ranibizumab (RBZ) 0.5 mg treatment across all approved indications in 30,000 patients from routine clinical practice. We present the 1-year data from the French patients included in LUMINOUS™. Methods : Overall, 17, 545 adult patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) were enrolled before March 2014; of these 9125 adult nAMD patients with a potential for …
Polyunsaturated fatty acids and plasmalogens in diabetics
2013
PurposePlasmalogens are phospholipids characterized by a vinyl ether bond and a preferential esterification of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA). We have previously shown that the lack of plasmalogens leads to retinal hyper-capillarization. We hypothesize that plasmalogens are negative regulators of vascular development, and aimed to check their circulating levels in diabetic patients with a retinopathy. MethodsBlood samples were collected from 88 patients and 14 control subjects. Among diabetics we had 14 patients without diabetic retinopathy (DR), 12 with a mild non proliferative DR, 12 with a moderate non proliferative DR, 22 with a severe non proliferative DR and 24 with a proliferativ…
High fat-high fructose diet triggered metabolic syndrome and retinal neovascular complications in the rat
2016
This is an abstract that was submitted for the 2016 ARVO Annual Meeting, held in Seattle, Wash., May 1-5, 2016.; Purpose : On the contrary to type II diabetes, the consequences of metabolic syndrome (MetS) in the retina are poorly documented. MetS includes insulin resistance, glucose intolerance, dyslipidemia and abdominal adiposity. Vascular changes are strongly associated to metabolic diseases. Thus, we tested the hypothesis that feeding rats with high fructose (60%) and high fat (10%) would contribute to the development of MetS and neovascular retinal complications. Methods : Male Brown Norway rats (6 weeks of age) were fed with a regular chow diet or a 60% rich fructose+10% lipid-rich di…
