An integrative dual-route model of rhythm perception and production
2009
An integrative dual-route model of rhythm perception and production is proposed here. Furthermore, an empirical study illustrated in the second part of this paper provides evidence of the existence of two different cognitive pathways. The development of the model is based on fundamental psychological principles of perception, action control and relevant neurobiological findings in rhythm processing and sensorimotor synchronization. Experiments with a dual-task paradigm were used during synchronization tapping to verify the fundamental assumptions of the model. The aim was to examine whether professional drummers show a change in tapping performance when their attention is drawn to another t…

Speech intelligibility and perception after cochlear implant in deaf children with or without associated disabilities: A review
2014
The ability to make oneself understood is critical to most human interaction, and as such, the failure to develop fully intelligible speech may result in a significant handicap especially in the child in learning phase. World literature has demonstrated improved speech intelligibility and speech perception as well as a good development of communication skills in prelingual profound sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) children after cochlear implantation. The literature considered as universally-accepted the usefulness/effectiveness of unilateral early cochlear implantation in severely-profoundly deaf children with or without associated disabilities. In fact this procedure, for children implan…
Bezvadu saziņas kanālu izmaiņas laikā ārējo faktoru ietekmē
2018
Bakalaura darba “Bezvadu saziņas kanālu izmaiņas laikā ārējo faktoru ietekmē” mērķis ir izveidot risinājumu, ar kura palīdzību var attēlot bezvadu saziņas kanālu izmaiņas. Mērķa sasniegšanai autors ir izvirzījis vairākus uzdevumus. Sākumā tiek veikta literatūras izpēte par to kā tiek veikta bezvadu kanālu kartēšana, izmantojot bezvadu sensoru tīklu.
2006
This thesis aims to explore new research opportunities in the food field, proposing to explicitly include psychological factors as potential determinants of food choice process. It notes the consequences of the central role of pleasure in the mechanisms of ingestion, and the specific role of taste: the highly emotional nature of food consumption leads then to retain experiential approach and more specifically sensory marketing as a framework. The issue of research aims to investigate how sensory stimuli and the information associated with the product combine to influence, in a differentiated manner depending on the individual, consumption behavior.Methodologically, the research combines con…
Quand les institutions culturelles s´ouvrent au marketing sensoriel ... et s´en défendent : enjeux et paradoxes.
2007
: Stimulate the audience sensoriality seems to be a new spearhead for a lot of cultural institutions. In this way, it is important to understand how the stimulation of the five senses of the audience could be interesting for managers in the cultural field. We wish, within this article, to improve this analysis. Accordingly, we will try, in a first part, to define this "sensory" trend of consumption and to clarify its stakes in comparison with the work completed in other marketing's fields. In a second part, we will appreciate the consequences of this tendency in terms of managerial practices for the professionals of the cultural sector. In a third and last part, we will present the principa…

Sensory-Adapted Dental Environment for the Treatment of Patients with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
2022
Purpose: The importance of dental care and oral hygiene is often underestimated in people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Comorbidity with dental anxiety is greater in ASD subjects who also show unusual reactions to sensory stimuli. The aim of our study was to assess the efficacy for a sensory-adapted environment and targeted methods in reducing anxiety and positively influencing cooperation in children with ASD during a dental examination or specific treatments. Material and methods: The sample consisted of 50 Italian children with a diagnosis of ASD (36 males and 14 females; aged 9–10 years) presenting with mild intellectual disability (ID) and verbal language skills. The subjects en…
Early development of hedonic and motivational aspects of eating behaviour
2015
Eating is essential for survival. However, the newborn is not an autonomous eater, and has to learn ‘how', ‘what', ‘when', and ‘how much' to eat quickly enough to ensure harmonious growth and development. In other nutritional areas, it has been shown during the past 20 years that early experiences are likely to impact long-term health outcomes. Thus, it appears fundamental to understand the early development of hedonic and motivational aspects of eating behaviour. This presentation will describe several studies conducted in our group during the past 10 years, in order to gain more knowledge about the development of what and how much children eat, in relation with food sensory and nutritiona…
