Vision evaluation in people with Down's syndrome.

We tested the colour vision of 72 people with Down's syndrome using the Ishihara test and an anomaloscope. We found that 13 of the subjects, 6 males and 7 females, had defective colour vision according to Pickford's classification. In monocular vision 10 eyes were protan (five simple, three extreme and two deviant), one eye was simple deuteranomalous and the remaining eyes were normal: in binocular vision four of the subjects were protan (two simple and two deviant), two subjects were deutan (one simple and one deviant) and the rest were normal. PURPOSE: To assess the visual and refractive outcomes of femtosecond laser-assisted implanta- tion of Ferrara-type intrastromal corneal ring segments (ICRS) in post-penetrating keratoplasty (PKP) eyes. Overdosage, possibly resulting in unwanted pop effects, or underdosage with no therapeutic effect therefore often occur. • Method and materials: Laser radiation passing through the sclera and ciliary body is partly reflected from the fundus and can be monitored from outside the eye by a detector system. Fixation suppression of optokinetic nystagmus modulates cortical visual-vestibular interaction.

Water activation positron emission tomography and statistical group analysis were used to evaluate differences in activation-deactivation patterns during small-field visual motion stimulation, eliciting rightward optokinetic nystagmus and its fixation suppression in 12 healthy volunteers. Myxoma of the orbit: a clinicopathologic report.

1990

A 27-year-old white man developed proptosis of his left eye over a period of 2 years. It was associated with vertical diplopia and displacement of the left globe down and laterally. Ultrasonography showed a cystic mass in the superior orbital region. Computed tomography (CT) demonstrated a solid, well-defined lesion behind the globe displacing the optic nerve medially. A transfrontal craniotomy revealed a nodular mass in the posterior and superior orbit, which extended anteriorly up to the globe. Histopathology, immunohistochemistry, and transmission electron microscopy proved the tumor to be a myxoma.

Change in pupil size after implantation of an iris-fixated toric phakic intraocular lens

Purpose To evaluate the changes in pupil size after implantation of an iris-supported toric phakic intraocular lens (TPIOL) for correction of myopia and hyperopia with astigmatism.
