The putative sponge aggregation receptor. Isolation and characterization of a molecule composed of scavenger receptor cysteine-rich domains and short…
1998
Porifera (sponges) are the oldest extant metazoan phylum. Dissociated sponge cells serve as a classic system to study processes of cell reaggregation. The reaggregation of dissociated cells is mediated by an extracellularly localized aggregation factor (AF), based on heterophilic interactions of the third order; the AF bridges two cells by ligating a cell-surface-bound aggregation receptor (AR). In the present study we report cloning, expression and immunohistochemical localization of a polypeptide from the marine sponge Geodia cydonium, which very likely represents the AR. The presumed AR gene gives rise to at least three forms of alternatively spliced transcripts of 6.5, 4.9 and 3.9 kb, a…
Relationships of gag-pol diversity between Ty3/Gypsy and Retroviridae LTR retroelements and the three kings hypothesis
2008
Abstract Background The origin of vertebrate retroviruses (Retroviridae) is yet to be thoroughly investigated, but due to their similarity and identical gag-pol (and env) genome structure, it is accepted that they evolve from Ty3/Gypsy LTR retroelements the retrotransposons and retroviruses of plants, fungi and animals. These 2 groups of LTR retroelements code for 3 proteins rarely studied due to the high variability – gag polyprotein, protease and GPY/F module. In relation to 3 previously proposed Retroviridae classes I, II and II, investigation of the above proteins conclusively uncovers important insights regarding the ancient history of Ty3/Gypsy and Retroviridae LTR retroelements. Resu…
L'effettiva applicazione del principio del contraddittorio nel procedimento amministrativo tributario tra svolte, ripensamenti e attese
2015
The right to a proper hearing in the administrative tax proceedings represents an essential element of the full exercise of the taxpayer’s right of the defense (art. 24 of the Italian Constitution), as well as of the implementation of the principle of good performance and impartiality of tax administration (art. 97 of the Italian Constitution), as recognized by the constitutional Court and the Supreme Court case law, in the light of European and international law. Taxpayer’s right to a proper hearing, as part of the rights of the defense, is a general principle of Community law which applies where the tax authorities are minded to adopt a measure which will adversely affect an individual. L…
Incidence du passage obligatoire aux normes comptables IAS / IFRS sur le risque d'instabilité bancaire
2011
In this thesis, we study the economic consequences, in terms of instability, of the mandatory IAS/IFRS adoption in the banking industry. The thesis is organized as follows. In a first part (Chapter I), we develop a theoretical framework whose purpose is to understand the mechanisms through which the mandatory IAS/IFRS adoption by banks may influence the probability of occurrence of a banking crisis. At this stage, we show that several arguments, derived from the contractual and informational perspectives of accounting, can be mobilized in order to justify the hypothesis that the mandatory IAS/IFRS adoption has a positive or a negative influence on banking stability. The second part of the t…
Dramme, didrammi e tetradrammi di Panormos e a legenda ṣyṣ nel V secolo a.C.: aggiornamenti e riflessioni intorno alle sequenze dei conî
2019
The main objective of this essay is to comment upon the modes of production and the datings of the 5th century BC non-fractional silver coinage bearing the Greek legend ΠΑΝΟΡΜΟΣ (and variants) and the Punic legend ṣyṣ. The reconstruction of the die sequences published by G. Kenneth Jenkins in 1971 and its recent updates will be discussed in detail. As far as the identification of the issuing authority and of the minting place of the coins with legend ṣyṣ is concerned, for a long time to the center of the scientific research interests, only the inferences made from an analysis of the die sequence have been taken into consideration.
Pleistocene allopatric differentiation followed by recent range expansion explains the distribution and molecular diversity of two congeneric crustac…
2021
AbstractPleistocene glaciations had a tremendous impact on the biota across the Palaearctic, resulting in strong phylogeographic signals of range contraction and rapid postglacial recolonization of the deglaciated areas. Here, we explore the diversity patterns and history of two sibling species of passively dispersing taxa typical of temporary ponds, fairy shrimps (Anostraca). We combine mitochondrial (COI) and nuclear (ITS2 and 18S) markers to conduct a range-wide phylogeographic study including 56 populations of Branchinecta ferox and Branchinecta orientalis in the Palaearctic. Specifically, we investigate whether their largely overlapping ranges in Europe resulted from allopatric differe…
Avian Clock gene polymorphism: evidence for a latitudinal cline in allele frequencies
2007
In comparison with most animal behaviours, circadian rhythms have a well-characterized molecular genetic basis. Detailed studies of circadian clock genes in 'model' organisms provide a foundation for interpreting the functional and evolutionary significance of polymorphic circadian clock genes found within free-living animal populations. Here, we describe allelic variation in a region of the avian Clock orthologue which encodes a functionally significant polyglutamine repeat (ClkpolyQcds), within free-living populations of two passerine birds, the migratory bluethroat (Luscinia svecica) and the predominantly nonmigratory blue tit (Cyanistes caeruleus). Multiple ClkpolyQcds alleles were foun…
Molecular markers indicate the phylogenetic identity of southern Brazilian sea asparagus: first record of Salicornia neei in Brazil
2019
Abstract Molecular phylogenetic analyses based on ETS, ITS and atpB - rbcL spacer sequences assessed the phylogenetic status of the southern Brazil sea asparagus species of the genus Salicornia (Salicornioideae, Amaranthaceae). Accessions of Patos Lagoon estuary (32° S) were obtained from wild plants and two pure line lineages, selected from contrasting prostrate (BTH1) and decumbent (BTH2) ecomorphotypes found locally. Patos Lagoon wild plants, BTH1 and BTH2 f4 progenies showed 100% identical sequences for the atpB - rbcL and ITS spacers, only two mutations for ETS. Comparison of the sequences of these three markers with GenBank records confirmed the identity of Brazilian accessions as Sal…
Phylogenetic relationship of ubiquitin repeats in the polyubiquitin gene from the marine sponge Geodia cydonium
1994
Ubiquitin is a 76-residue protein which is highly conserved among eukaryotes. Sponge (Porifera) ubiquitin, isolated from Geodia cydonium, is encoded by a gene (termed GCUBI) with six repeats, GCUBI-1 to GCUBI-6. All repeat units encode the same protein (with one exception: GCUBI-4 encodes ubiquitin with a change of Leu to Val at position 71). On the nt level the sequences of the six repeats differ considerably. All changes (except in GCUBI-4) are silent substitutions, which do not affect the protein structure. However, there is one major difference between the repeats: Codons from both codon families (TCN and AGPy) are simultaneously used for the serine at position 65. Using this characteri…
